I just solved Boxrec.com problem

I had been unable to access boxrec.com even with the www. I had some success with it from work but not from home.
Here's what I did and it works for me every time now.

In the game, I went to options (lower right, next to quit button)
at :enter data source name I changed boxrec.com to www.boxrec.com and I get in every time from the boxers biography page.

Question

I have tried putting the www.boxrec.com in the data source name.
I have http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=$$ID$$ in the
data source link. Is this correct because I still can't get it to work.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Bogie

You're still missing www

You're still missing the www in the begining of the data source link

http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=$$ID$$

Hootowl,

You're talking about the DATA SOURCE LINK

You have to put the www. in front in the:ENTER DATA SOURCE NAME

Thanks Gus,
Hmmmm...I can get to the Home page of boxrec from outside the game, but can't get on the site at all from the boxer id page, (bar with his #) so the site is fine I guess. As I stated, it worked fine for awhile. Here is exactly what I have entered in the game.
External data source name: www.boxrec.com
External data source link: http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=$$ID$$

This is driving me crazy, I've been using alot more adjectives aimed at my computer with my speech of late. lol

On a side note, I was rating some fighters very early-on, when I suffered a serious illness and off the boards and game for along time for the most part,...missed alot. Thank's to all for the posted fighters & pics. Sorry to those I may have let down. Life happens!

Don't worry, on this board we are happy when the guy knocked down has the heart to get back up.

Hope all is better now and i wish you all the luck in the world for this coming year.
Danny

By the way i have the same problem as you when trying to connect through the game to boxrec, and also i have the same as you in my data boxes.

I've noticed that when I hit the link from the game my browser will pop open like I'm going to it then it will say done with only a white page. If I close the browser and hit the link again it comes right up. It has been consistent in this the last 3 or 4 days.

First off,...A Happy and Prosperous New Year to all! Rock on!

Thanks to all for your kind words,..this board is like no other I've encountered. To my old friend Danny,..during my illness, for what it is worth...I thought of you often,...really...could not let you be the only "brassy" old fart out here! lol (just kidding) They told me 4 or more months before I can be active. Screw that,...back to work and been running with my dog every day for six weeks now.

Now for my connection to boxrec problem. I am using Internet Explorer.
Running Windows XP Pro - Version 2002
Still can not get on boxrec from the game?

yep, I notice The older versions of Internet Explorer have problems With Boxrec, You can try and update the browser, becuase if your using the same version that came with you Windows, then I think its 4.5.

Im using Opera (new Browser) and I never had a problem.

SWEET!!!

I just tried what mh2365 did recommend. I get the "done" with a white page telling me I'm S*it out of luck. I just hit F5 to reload and the page I request comes up fine. Still one should not have to do that, but none the less...it does work now!

To be honest, this has never worked for me. I have it set exactly as it appears in your posts (I think, I've re-done it so many times now), but no dice. It's too bad that the program will not allow a cut-and-paste feature. Then we would only need one smart person and the rest of us monkeys could work a few mouse clicks and be done with it. I have rewritten the lines, tried exiting and going in again, with www, without www - Ah phooey - I give up.

I think that I will drop back ten and punt on this one. I've gone out to my browser every time I wanted to look at a record, so I won't miss much in not having this.

Enjoy the new year folks!

Christopher

Did dempsonny mean that you have to have www. in both data source name and data source link? I'm not sure as I can't get it to work no matter what I try. Then again I am using Mozilla as my browser.

To Boxingnut

I only had to add it to the first one, it was already in the link. Ever since I did that everything has been great.
