ootp6 crash after season ends

When I complete a season (doesn't matter the length of number of teams), and sim the playoffs, everything is okay. But the next time I start the game, on the load up screen I get an error message. It reads:

ootp6 has encountered a problem and needs to shut down...

The info I have, if it helps, is: appname oot6.exe appver 0.0.0.0
modname ootp6.exe modver 0.0.0.0 offset 003dde06

I am running the latest version of ootp6 with the patch 6.11

I have tried reinstalling, re-downloading, and even re-downloading the patches and the same thing happens

I have Windows XP, dirextx 9.0c

How much free space do you have? Did you delete any files?

I have a 80GB hard drive, and it is about 85% free. I didn't delete anything. It doesn't seem to do it with the career league, only with imported leagues using lahman 5.1 or the ankit database. I am going to try a fictional league to see if it does it. (if I delete the league it tries to load up at the beginning, then it loads correctly)

it seems to be some issue with importing players- I re-downloaded the lahman and it still does it
