Cool Fictional Ballparks Project

Here's another project I'm working on. Below is the first fictional park I've created for myself in a new format. If it looks promising, I'll provide he parks for download minus the Logo and Park/Team Name... what do you think ?

ps: I know - the SS is out of place (it's not done yet LOL)

Agreed. That's a beautiful ballpark. Wish they'd knock down the Vet/Shea/Metrodome/Tropicana/Olympic Stadium and put that there.

Cool

LOL ... in the final version, I'm going to run the player pics through an oil/watercolor filter that will take out the details

Just like always these look great. I was just wondering, I've been trying to figure out how you changed the players boxes to transparent. What bmp file is it under? I assume that you used the black 0,0,0 in that file. Thanks

sluggo,

If you rename the file called bc4.bmp in the OOTP4/graphics folder to bc44.bmp, it will replace the green backgrounds of the onscreen players with a trasparent backdrop - allowing more of the ballpark to show. The layer names and stats are still readable. There is no way, at the moment to make the batter and runners blue background transparent

The Baltimore Clippers were the AHL hockey team in Baltimore when I was growing up there in the 1960s. I'll always remember their theme song. Nice to see them move outdoors

Same idea, just trying to genericize it.

There is a way to change the blue background to transparent, by doing the same thing to the file bc2.bmp which is a block of the same color blue. However, the point that makes it undoable is the fact that if you do that, you change every color that was dark blue to transparent. Which means a lot of the game background screens will be transparent. So it's not impossible, but I'm sure your point was the same, that it's not prudent to do it.

The blue box of the batters and runners is controlled by bc2.bmp. This can be made transparent as well, but bc2.bmp also effects several other background throughout the game. Making this box transparent, I've found, is somewhat undesirable.

The frames around the boxes are controlled by the fifth and sixth lines of color.ini in the root OOTP4 directory. Making these values 0,0,0 does NOT make the boxes go away, unfortunatly. They are just black boxes, and (IMHO) the silver/light silver defaults look better.

I am working on a custom skin. I have identified most of the /GRAPHICS files' intents, and the some purposes behind the color.ini. I'm finding it difficult to get too creative, though, since a change in one place almost always changes somewhere else, too. If I make one screen look good, I can almost assuredly count on having made another screen look like (crap).

Cool

Troyer,

Yeah - I know LOL. I spent so much time trying out things with the color schemes, after a few hours I'd have to stop for a while. I pretty much cam to the conclusion that very few things can be changed without effecting something else... a result of the fact there's too few color options and most are shared in multiple locations in the game. If we could get markus to come up with enough color variations (and they would only have to be RGB variances - not anything the eye would actually see - then a lot more possibilities would exist. (hear us Markus? )

What I'd really like to see is (1) transparent colors and (2) the ability to use JPGs (for space considerations and GIFs (to add animations).

Maybe v5, or v6, or

Thanks Henry, TomFoley, and Troyer for your input. I have been trying to figure this out for some time, since Henry displayed it a few weeks ago. Also was just wondering, you guys work so much on these great add ons, how much time do you spend playing the game? Thanks again.

Thumbs up

These ballparks are absolutely fantastic.

I'm using your current fictional pack and just as I finished spending much too long editing and figuring out appropriate dimensions, I find out you're coming out with an even better set!

One question: Is it possible to leave the box at the top transparent? This way it would be easier to put our own stadium name, team name and logo. I could erase it as it is but I wouldn't be able to retain that great background. Just a thought...

Cool

Puritan,
My ultimate goal (when I get the set done) is to have at least 8 ballparks and not have them named - just the empty frame. Only problem is it's slow going since I have so many projects going LOL and keeping the website fresh.

Sluggo,
Game ???? What game ???
