Crash at the end of a game...

I have OOTP5. My league is a Career League that I just created.

The game keep crashing when a game finish. I'm tired of this... I just reinstalled XP because I had the same problem...

I looked at the threads in this forum and I came to the conclusion that it was better for me to reinstall XP.

It worked fine for a while (3-4 games), then same old problem again...

I updated my XP with all the available updates on the Microsoft site between those 3-4 games. The last one I did was the FrameWork 1.1 and my game worked perfectly before I installed it.

Does anyone have a solution for me??

Turn "in game sound" off if you have it on.

Reinstalling XP, good idea. Updating XP, bad idea in this case.

Since the problem seems to be DirectX 9.0c and/or XP SP2, the only way reinstalling will help if you revert to before the above versions of XP and DX, and then stay there.

EDIT: Wait a sec... he said OOTP5. Is there an "end-of-game sound crash" in v5 too?

Yes, and I also have had the same problem. Version 6.11 and OOTP5 worked fine until I updated to Directx9.0c and now, both my games crash at the end of the game, but don't if I have the sound off, which to me ruins the in game experience, so much in fact, I don't play solo anymore.

That's the same experience I had when I tried DX9.0c temporarily... so I used System Restore to go back to DX9.0b, and now it works fine again. I haven't had the guts to try the same thing with XP SP2.

Thank you guys! You are awesome!

I'm probably going to reinstall XP again and I will not update it this time!

I already uninstalled the Framework 1.1 and my next game finshed normally! I'm gonna test this before reinstalling everything.

Thank you again, I was so desesperate...

Yes... my father was never able to play with sound running XP and OOTP5 (without SP2).

I wish people could look beyond SP2 and DirectX... as long as we allow others to believe it is a "SP2" problem we'll never be able to put enough pressure to bear to get it fixed! It is an OOTP problem, not a SP2/DX problem. None of my other games (some of them legacy even) have problems running at all - only OOTP5 or OOTP6...

But the error seems to be a conflict between the OOTP's and DX9.0, Anachronism. I don't think anyone actually means that it is a DX9.0 problem, but a problem in the way in which OOTP interacts with it.
As far as SP2 goes, it happens there because SP2 installs DX9.0c.

I remember!!

Now I remember!

I can recall exactly when it stopped working : when I got my new video card!

Probably that when I installed the driver, DirectX 9.X got installed and destroyed my world (at least, my OOTP world)...

Damn!

On that I agree 100% - but we need to ensure that it is worded to be an OOTP problem, not a directx problem. (because many here on the support side DO blame Directx and state it is NOT an OOTP problem).

Something that OOTP is doing in the way it handles sound is causing the crash, it isn't because of directx. None of my other pieces of software suffer any issues. As I said in one previous thread, you don't go to Microsoft and ask them to re-write one of their core libraries to work for your application, you write your application to work with Microsoft's libraries....

It's working fine!

I have uninstalled SP2, and everything is working great!

I have good old DirectX 8.1. Thank you time-travelling!

Thank you again guys!
