Single A player shows in the "Hitting Streak" leader category

So I was checking out the standing when I noticed on the left side of the screen that my Single A catcher (Norihisa) is third on the "hitting streak" list with 6 games!

That's some hitting streak to be receiving major league kudos when you are a single A player!

I suspect the problem lies with the fact that Norihisa is on my 40 man roster... but wouldn't know for certain.

Running 6.11

If he was ever in the majors, even in a previous year, he could still have an active major league hitting streak.

LOL... I checked Norihisa's stats and although he has languished in the minors since I aquired him from Big Sky (middle of 2003), he did indeed have a cup of coffee in the 2002 season with the Ice Piranhas (we are playing the 2005 season now).

He was brought up on 6/3, and sent down on 7/6. During that stretch he played in 11 games. It was in his final 6 games in the majors, between 6/12 and 7/6, that he did indeed play in 6 games where he collected at least one hit a game, 7 hits in total (3 singles, 2 doubles, and 2 home runs).

I had no idea he had made the majors at all since I've haven't had him above AA since receiving him!! (how in the world did Big Sky think he was ready for the show?).

Thanks jmm8356

He may have just been brought up as a stop-gap type of thing because of injuries. Either way, if he hit in 6 straight games he must have at least some decent skills.

When I traded for him he was number 11 on the "top 100 prospects" and I needed a catcher. His talent is 4-6-8-6-6 (real stats are 4-5-8-4-5 right now) and he's got a good arm behind the plate (he can also run for a catcher!).

He was a AAA player with Big Sky in 2002. Big Sky moved him to AA in 2003 and when I picked him up I kept him at the AA level. He played 130 games behind the plate, hitting .306 and belting 34 homeruns with 98 RBI.

To start the 2004 season I noticed that I was suddenly being told that he was overmatched at AA (how is .305, 34 HR, and 98 RBI overmatched?) so I moved him to A. In A he played 117 games, hitting .343 with 26 HR and 77 RBI.

In the 2005 season I tried again to promote him to AA only to be faced with "could be overmatched." Not too sure where this guy is going....

The "overmatched" comments are pretty strange. With his ratings I would definately have this guy in AAA, especially if his numbers have been good at the lower levels (which you indicate they have).

I've always been worried with those messages, afraid that I would "burn" a rookie out... but maybe you are right. Maybe I should stick him in AA to see how he performs again. I would like this guy in a Hurricane uniform one day

A little confused here - are you saying that he did play (and get 6 hits) in 2002, yet it is now 2005 and he is still showing up on your leader board? If that is the case - I think things might be a little wrong. Why/how would the game do that ?

That is correct... Norihisa had a 6 game hitting streak going in 2002 when he was sent to the farm never to come up again (yet). So in 2005, that 2002 streak is still showing on the leaderboard...

Nothing wrong... just an extreme example of the rule that hitting streaks cannot be broken by not playing, and that they carry over between seasons.

Just an update. I did bump him up to AA from A, and although he was listed as "could be overmatched" for a short while, he quickly erased that...

His current stats in AA:

Code:
Year G AB H 2B 3B HR RBI R BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
2005, AA 22 85 30 5 1 13 28 24 11 9 1 0 .353 .433 .894 1.327
I think he is ready for a shot at AAA soon...

well andymac, he's been at AAA for 2 weeks now, and has settled in nicely. I received the "Not ready AAA" comments for about a week, but Norihisa proved he could stick, and those warnings from my Legendary scout are no more

I guess sometimes you just have to make moves based on the stats and not just based on what your coaching staff states.

Code:
Year G AB H 2B 3B HR RBI R BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
2005 A 8 33 9 2 0 4 9 7 1 4 1 1 .273 .294 .697 .991
2005 AA 34 132 41 5 1 16 36 34 21 17 2 2 .311 .413 .727 1.140
2005 AAA 9 33 9 1 0 4 11 7 2 13 1 0 .273 .333 .667 1.000
Interesting to compare his A and AAA stats - since at both levels he had 33 AB. The stat lines are almost identical. He's gone from A, to AA, to AAA very quickly this year. He must be happy - his career has gone:

Code:
2002 AA 20 games
2002 AAA 25 games
2002 Majors 11 games
2002 AAA 20 games
2003 AA 130 games
2004 A 117 games
2005 A 8 games
2005 AA 34 games
2005 AAA 9 games
I have hope again that Norihisa will once again hit the majors! I was beginning to think I traded for a career minor leaguer the way he was falling down the ladder!!

I would bring him up for one game and let him PH to end that streak. If he gets a hit, well, let him PH again. If he gets another hit. Let him start a game.
