POTD Opening - Richmond Ravens (Challenge)
Pioneers of the Diamond, a fictional league that is just starting the offseason of 2010 (our 8th season), has one opening and boy is it a challenge. The Richmond Ravens are in need of a patient, dedicated owner willing to pump some life into this poor franchise that's languished ever since its inception as an expansion team in 2005. Their best record in five seasons of existence was 78-84 in 2006 and they are coming off a 2009 season that saw them go 69-93. Fan interest is lacking at only 27, their revenues have steadily dropped in five seasons and they have a relatively barren Major League roster with a relatively barren farm system. They are currently in the black with a low payroll and do have the 8th pick in the upcoming ammy draft.
So are you up to the challenge? POTD is a fictional league with a $90 million salary cap, $25 million cash cap, uses a lottery to determine its draft order and is gearing up to integrate a FULL Catobase history since the league's inception in its 2003 season. Sims are held LIVE every Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday at 10pm eastern time and 7 days are simmed per sim. POTD has an exceptionally strong owner core and many of its owners consider POTD far-and-away the most competitive online league they've ever been in. So if you'd like to take the reigns of a struggling franchise and work your magic to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight, check POTD out at... http://www.potd.simleaguecentral.com ![]() Interested GMs should contact Commish Mike Lambert at duckfart76@simleaguecentral.com or myself at bubenhjl@email.uc.edu

This league is great, probably my favorite league I've ever been in with the exception of my own. The GM's are great, very active and competitive. I joined in as an expansion team (Montreal) and was made to feel welcome by a number of GMs (and not just so they could rob me of my few talented players lol).
Rebuilding Richmond would be a challenge, but not an insurmountable one. Each year there is solid talent via the draft, and at least a decent crop of veteran free agents. The league also has a good competitive balance, which certainly makes it more enjoyable to run a team in... I have no doubt that with a strong hand at the helm the Richmond franchise could turn around quickly. So if you think you can handle a league full of smart, proactive GMs (and a few yearly beatings from your friendly neighbor in Montreal) then you shouldn't hesitate to contact Mike and/or Jason and get in on the fun.... what's the matter... are ya chicken?

POTD is indeed a great league with the best owner core i've seen in my 3 years of online play. Rebuilding a struggling franchise like Richmond is alot more fun then taking over a powerhouse, thats how i look at it. Nothing like seeing a team whose been a .450 since 2003, taken to the top of the league. I took over Alcatraz, and when i did, the team was a mess. I rebuilt them, and in the process, i've had a ton of fun. Infact, after rebuilding the team, i made it all the way to LCS this past season, losing to a powerhouse San Andreas. Theres never a dull moment in this league, get in while you can, spots dont open up in this league too ofton.
