Looking for a Challenge?

Cliffnotes: OOTP5 Historical League in 2000 (5th season) has four bad teams open. Features include: BOSI, CATO, Face Pack, Live Sims, and Free Agent compensation system. Contact me if interested.

ABL Old-School is a 1996 Historical League which has concluded it's fourth season and is looking for four GM's. For the most part, we are stable in terms of ownership. However, we seem to have a hard time attracting new GM's. Many of our core GM's also played in a Baseball Mogul league which proceeded this one.

One of the main drawing points of the league is the unique experience of watching today’s players develop in the minors. Towards that end we do not import rookies from a database based on debut year but instead the Commish creates them based on year drafted preventing players from immediately being major league ready. Only two other leagues use this approach and both are mimicking this league.

Details:
  • Three Live Seven Day Sims Per Week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday @ 5:45 during the week and 3PM on Weekends)
  • We use Catobase and BOSI
  • We let the winning Managers in the LCS select the Reserves and Pitchers. Starters, as with end of season awards, are elected by the league
  • Free Agent Compensation System
  • Active Message Board with plenty of article content, including alias writers and non league related sports chatter.
  • E-Mail is sent post sim and headlines (complete with pictures) are included on the Front Page after nearly every sim

The <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/team26.html">Cardinals</a> have talent but also a high payroll. Rebuilding around <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/p1528.html">Marcus Giles</a> (8 in hits) would probably be the wisest move. Prospects <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/p1654.html">Austin Kearns</a> and <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/p1598.html">Aubrey Huff</a> should also be considered cornerstones although they are still developing. The <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/team23.html">Reds</a> are more of a challenge having little talent aside from <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/p10.html">Robby Alomar</a>, who unfortunately has the richest Free Agent contract in league history, and 17 year old Double-A pitcher <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/p1732.html">Jerome Williams</a>.

<a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/team28.html">Arizona</a> and <a href="http://www.orioleshangover.com/onlinerosters/team13.html">Mexico City</a> are both second year Expansion teams who are now available because of real life complications.

If interested please contact me on AIM ( remangiii ), by e-mail (me@orioleshangover.com), PM, or messenger pigeon.

Mexico City and Arizona have buckets of cash being expansion teams so a quick turnaround could be made. Free agency has just gotten started and there's some BIG names on the market. These are both opportunities to write new chapters in the history of baseball.

St. Louis as mentioned, has some outstanding prospects. St. Louis is storied franchise throughout history. Wouldn't you like to return them to glory??

The ABL has some solid GM's who are active on the message boards and Remangiii is one of the most dedicated and reliable commish's to be found.

This is your chance to see a new spin put on baseball history. Come and join us.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. An old owner returned to take the Reds but the current Philies owner retired...adding the Philies to the list of open teams.

Members who left the league on bad terms (i.e. you) aren't welcome to return.
