nothing about this league sounds interesting
it would be just another win for me, i would probably win 150 games a year in a league full of newbies like this

Now might be a good moment to plug my two-team H2H league. I'll commish, and Dagrims and Jnmshoo are the two owners. If one of you could send an unused FOF2005 licensce, and the other an undrunk beer and an uneaten bag of Doritos, we'll be in business.

If you can collect 6 order ID's, OOTP will give you free web hosting. The catch is that each license can only be used, for that purpose, once.

Hmph. I didn't know that. No disrespect to anyone, but I would think that being the commisioner of a league with "world altering powers" should be required to provide the league website. I mean what happens if the league disbands? Then those guys are each out $20. Or how does one even know thier licenses will be used for this? Someone could just sell them to people or even give them away so they could play the game for free...

Neither my league or Boys of Summer is hosted by OOTP. You can still play the game regardless, so your not out twenty bucks. If the league disbands, you can reuse your license. Over 50 leagues are hosted on the server, including some of the most "prestigious" ones. Furthermore, there's more too being a commish than having "world altering powers." To begin with, I don't see an ethical situation in which such "world altering powers"" would be used to your benefit unless you mean crafting the league in your own image. Being a commissioner certainly his it perks. It is nice "to drive" and I'm very proud of my league. It is a labor of love but it's still a labor. There's plenty of work, responsibility, headache, hassle, and stress involved. For example, I spent close to four hours working on my league last night. Today, I've spent around two hours working on a new front page for Boys of Summer. ABL simmed last night, BoS tonight, ABL tomorrow, BoS Thursday, ABL Friday, and BoS Saturday. That's six nights in a row that I have to be home at a certain time. This is an extreme example but, as I said, it's a labor...even if it's one of love. Finally, some advice. You've mocked leagues having Free Agent compensation systems as "unrealistic" only to later admit your ignorance of MLB having such a system. Here, you called a practice that is essential to the current makeup of the online community "absurd." I'm sure that were you better informed you wouldn't have made such a statement. "It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." -- Mark Twain |
