Ron Artest: Fool or Man of Integrity?!?!?

What do you think about Ron Artest claiming he needs some time off from playing basketball to rest up because he has been working so hard on his rap CD? Seems logical to me especially since he said that after his CD is released on Nov 23rd he can come back to playing basketball full time. What a great guy!

Sounds like something Terrell Owens would say. Maybe Artest should create a website...

I just think Artest has a disease/is mentally challenged. It seems like there is something wrong with him that he can't control. With that being said, Artest plays the game harder than 99% of the people in the league, so his dedication to the game shouldn't be questioned.

I think it's even worse that now we know it isn't HIS cd, but rather an Allure (R&B female group) CD in which he is the executive producer.

While I think being an executive producer does take more work than just singing over a couple of tracks, it seriously questions his committment to the game of basketball.

That being said, I think it's fair to say that he should decide how much basketball means to him rather than the fans or the media. However, he should be punished (fined, suspended without pay) if he doesn't want to play ball.

Word is that he is seriously considering retirement if the Pacers win the championship this season.

I'll venture and guess and say the Pacers wont be winning the championship, and Artest will be back.

Infact, Jermain just went down again with a ankle injury.

I loved hearing the audio from his press conference. A reporter asks him what he thinks of the coach's comment that he's compromising the integrity of the team, and Artest asks what the word integrity means. He honestly had no clue.

Your boss doesn't pay you millions of dollars to take any days off let alone days within the first week of the season.

If he was "Executive Producer" then the timing of everything should have been considered and done during the offseason.

This guy really takes the cake

I remember when he was coming up with the Bulls seeing him and loving his intensity and his willingness to get down and dirty on the court. I was sorry to see him get traded.

Now he is just a shadow of himself...is the NBA going to be run by these ...ahem...professionals. And if so , can the league survive. Or will we be subject to the likes of the 64-60 final which happened recently.

Option 4, I am pretty sure that he knows what he is doing though, getting some good Publicity for his CD.

Comparing TO and Artest is a little bit of a stretch.

TO has said some things which I disliked, and he screamed at a coach on the sideline. I have no problems with his celebrations, except the Dallas star thing (and I HATTTTE the Boys).

Artest threw a TV, got in fights, etc. TO is egocentric, Artest is destructive.

Of course lets not forget that during his rookie season with the Bulls he applied for a part time job at Circuit City and listed Jerry Krause as a reference!!! When he was asked why he did that, he replied "I wanted the employee discount on the electronics".

This guy is a nut job!!!

The dude has to have some mental issues going on. I mean to him things like this are no big deal. It's like he honestly believes he's acting normally and not asking for any big thing. I mean seriously, asking for time off a week after the NBA season started? A few weeks after you just had 4 months off? What the **** is this guys problem?

I understand what Ron is doing. There are 12 people on an NBA squad, but there aren't any teams anymore. He is doing what he wants regardless of what happens around him.

That's not what he "claimed". He claimed his motivation was never music but making himself more available to his four children, daughters Sade and Diamond and sons Ron III and Jeron.

It just happened that he used the free time in studio.

I'd let Ron A finish the CD, then play it--and only it--at every intermission, time-out, and during half-time. At some point in time, say about game three or four, a critical mass of outrage will be achieved and the entire attending crowd, the dancing girls, the referees, the TV and radio crews, the mascots, and the two teams will rise as one, uh, critical mass and rend the Artist Formerly Known As Artest limb from limb, thus restoring the space-time continuum to the proper harmonious state.
