Question Rookie draft problem...

I've just exported a long going solo historical league from v4 to v5 and then to v6. When I start the new season (2000), all goes swimmingly until rookie draft time. I click real players, I designate them to go into the rookie draft pool, not the actual drafting team, I direct the engine to find them in the last available Lahman base, (covers through '03 season), which I have stored in C:\STATS. This always worked without a hitch in v4. I've done this about half a dozen times now in v5 and v6 with similar results - the rookie pool either consists of Barry Zito alone, (guess if the league can only draft one player, you could do worse), Zito and two or three others, or Zito and a bunch of names I've never heard of.
Finally gave up, started importing all players who debuted in 2000 and actually had a career individually through the FA screen. I get a choice of designating them FAs or Rookies. If I choose Rookies, I can then find them by a name search in SetUp, but can't figure a way to assign them to teams. If I choose to designate them as FAs, they ask for mucho moola, signing bonuses, etc., which many teams can't afford.
Anyone ever experience this, or have a suggestion for working around it?
Thanks,
Maglie

Yes, I've had the same problems when it comes to the rookie draft. I started my season in 1990 and it seems around the 95 season on this problem pops up. I havent been able to figure it out, but the only thing that would work is if I used the Ankit database in stead of the lahman. The only problem is......you will have a number of duplicate players for the first 3 years or so 0f the draft.

The debut years for players are not in the database for some recent years. You can either add them in yourself or download an alternate database like Ankit's that has them.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm unfamiliar with Ankit, and will do a search of these boards for links to the database, instructions for installing, etc.
However, I'll probably wait until my next "off season," as I ended up manually importing all 70 odd players from Lahman who debuted in 2000 and don't want to have to delete the league again and start over for the 10th time. Not happy with the manual approach, as the players, although designated as "Rookies," show up in the FA pool, not the rookie draft, and many were signed to one year major league contracts in excess of a million bucks. The stronger teams got stronger, the weaker ones weaker, the opposite of what used to occur with a rookie draft where the weaker picked first...

Yeah, I'd do the same thing if I'd imported them all.

If you go to the mods forum, you shouldn't have much trouble finding Ankit's version.
