PBL 2006 Season starting this week... BAL, CLE, COL, and SD open
PBL will be starting it's 3rd season on Tuesday, November 9th (tomorrow) using OOTP 6.11 and presently has 4 open teams following the completion of Spring Training. PBL is a very active league with a high percentage of original owners that began using 2004 CBL rosters.
Please visit the PBL website at http://www.pbl.ootp-leagues.com. Open Franchises: Baltimore - 74-88 in 2005, very good farm system, good financials. The O's possess one of PBL's strongest young group of arms, all of which have entered or will be entering the majors in 2006. In addition, management has gone out and invested in a strong 3B, Troy Glaus, and veteran lefty, Jarrod Washburn, to help bring the youngsters along. After a 9 game improvement in 2005, the O's appear to be on the verge of .500. Cleveland - 80-82 in 2005, good farm system, average financials. Pitching is the name of the game on Lake Erie these days. Kevin Millwood anchors an improving, maturing rotation that welcomes Francisco Cruceta into the fold in 2006. A young lineup, including Jody Gerut, Ben Broussard, and Khalil Greene, was one of the most efficient offenses in the majors in 2005 for it's payroll. Colorado - 82-80 in 2005, mediocre farm system, very good financials. Following a 95 win mark in 2004, Colorado had hoped to take the 2006 NL Wildcard. A strong start was ultimately killed by a September fade. However, even with the loss of ace Tomo Ohka, the core of the Rockies roster remains in tact. With some key losses in free agency endured by the Dodgers and Diamondbacks, the door is open for Todd Helton, Kaz Matsui, Hideki Matsui, and Geoff Jenkins to light up the scoreboard and take the NL West crown in 2006. San Diego - 65-97 in 2005, good farm system, very good financials. Brian Giles returns to Petco in what may be an incomplete 2006 season. The Padres, looking to rebuild, will probably be forced to deal their star outfielder to a contender as the season wears on. The starting rotation just isn't up to par to compete for the NL West crown in 2006. Fortunately, there are plenty of dollars to dish out to acquire talent and an influx of talent brewing in Double A Mobile. Financial incentives (such as a cash reset, etc.) may be considered in order to fill the spots quickly, pending league approval, as we would like to be full by the end of the first week of 2006 play. A $90,000,000 soft-salary cap is in place to encourage parity and competition throughout our league and new TV Broadcast contracts will be renegotiated after the 2007 season. If you are interested in one of these teams, please contact the Kybjones317 or JoeyIsTheGame on AIM or JoeyIsTheGame@aol.com via email. Congratulations to our two previous champions on their World Series victories: 2004 Los Angeles Dodgers (JPRedSoxFan) - Led by stellar ace Jason Schmidt and the hot hitting Shawn Green, the Dodgers were able to withstand St. Louis, Houston, and Boston for it's latest world championship. 2005 Houston Astros (Sidzbak) - Thanks to an complete team effort in Game 7, the Lance Berkman, Jeff Kent, and Jeff Bagwell's Astros were able to make a surprise comeback to up-end the WS favorite, Boston. We look forward to contact from any prospective owners. Thanks again for considering PBL. Last edited by kybjones; 11-08-2004 at 01:41 PM. |
