MVP and Sliver Slugger
Right now, there really is no MVP in OOTP. There basically is a sliver slugger award but it would be great to duplicate the awards giving in MLB. Also, showing the voting for the awards as well. This could possible even tie into incentives for players such as a bonus for MVP award. In addition, we need postseason awards. Just my taughts.

OOOooo! I REALLY like the idea of post-season awards...at the very least having an MVP of each post-season series would be, IMO, a wonderful thing to have!

In reality, I'm not too sad about there not being a true MVP. In real baseball, pitchers so rarely win it anyway. Also, I'm not sure it's fair to compare pitchers and hitters with one award. I know you can get some idea with win shares, but their roles are so different. The voting is absolutely something I'd like to see.

I'd love to see some sort of customizable option where one could create a sort of voting formula. I bought a book over the summer by Rob Neyer and Bill James, I think, about pitchers and in one chapter James described a formula that could be used to predict who the likely Cy Young was going to be.
So imagine that. You set up a formula to create Cy Young or MVP points, you can alter it from season to season, but I think this next part of the suggestion would be key--you could also set the formula to have a random adjustment factor. Without that, you could just do a straight calculation and know who's going to win, but with that in place, it's possible that the guy in 2nd, or 3rd, could move up past the leader and take the award. OOTP could then use it for monthly news stories, like maybe in June say "These players are getting attention for their seasons thus far and should be considered early contenders for the MVP." |

Of course, the last time a starting pitcher won the MVP was Vida Blue in 1971. No pitchers have won the award since Dennis Eckersley in 1992. Considering that the Silver Slugger is an award that a bunch of people probaby aren't even aware of, I see no problem with keeping it the way it is now.

I'd make a really depressed anouncer. The pitch lined into the right-field gap for a double In other news, my wife's a whore or 0-2 pitch to Johnson fly ball to center, and its caught She took everything, I have to move in with my brother now
