Hi - I haven't played my copy of OOTP5 for a few months on this computer, but when I tried to start it last night, the game wouldn't even run. I click the shortcut, the hourglass shows up next to the cursor for a second or two, then nothing else happens. I even open up Task Manager to watch and see if the .exe gets loaded, but it does not.
I have tried uninstalling/re-installing OOTP5 and patching, with no success. I have turned off D3D and the sound, I have upgraded my Catalyst, reinstalled DX 9.0c, and even set my Windows theme back to windows default (not that I had made any serious changes to it to begin with). Nothing. Game runs fine on my laptop. Any suggestions? EDIT - ahhh wtf - sorry, I posted in the wrong forum somehow. Stupid me... Before this thread gets moved to the other forum - I'd like to add that I just tried the OOTP6 demo and got the same thing to happen as OOTP5. Obviously it has something to do with my system, but what could it be? I do not want to format this just for OOTP, especially when everything else works perfectly.
EDIT - I just tried adding Win98 compatibility mode to the OOTP.exe file and got this error message on startup - http://www.gb-blackknight.com/images/ootp_error.jpg Last edited by Black_Knight; 10-24-2004 at 04:48 PM. |

Thanks for the reply, but there are no user/admins issues here. I am the admins of this computer and no one else uses it.

So nobody has any ideas what I should do here - nothing to try re-installing, or checking for some error somewhere? Just wanting to know, b/c tech support has not gotten back to me either...
