Fictional "Historical" League

I'm thinking about starting a fictional "historical" league. Actually the only thing I'm planning on doing historically right now is team name and location changes just like they did in MLB. I'm also wanting to try to start in the late 1800's if I can. Has anybody tried to do something like this before? If so what kind of things should I keep in mind and be aware of?

I'm doing something simalar, although I started in 1901. I'm beginning the 1904 season now. The timeline that I am looking for (another post) is a huge help. Its actually quite easy. Use the ERA Calc and use trial seasons to get the numbers to corrospond correctly. I set the league up like MLB in 1901 and you should be able to find historical logos. You might have to change a few each year. If I can do anymore to help, please ask.

Keep in mind that if you're using fictional players, much of the advice here on 19th century players will not apply to you. The historical players all import with low home runs totals, for instance, so there's less tinkering with league totals required. You're going to have to figure out a way to do that yourself, whether by changes player creation modifiers, league totals, or both.

You may want to consider using standard league totals. They won't give you the variations in stats that the real historical totals do, but your players will all be on equal footing and your workload between seasons won't be as heavy.
