Unofficial Red Sox Versus Cardinals Thread

I don't want to step on SpitFire Mac's toes so I'll make this one unofficial

I am looking forward to a great series and I think it will be a hard fought contest. My prediction-Cardinals in seven games. What does everyone think? I look forward to "chatting" with everyone during the games...

Being a Cardinal fan, we will not let them lose a game at Busch, so it will come down to whether we can grab one in Boston. All I know is it will be fun, let's have a great series!!!

I am really expecting a great series. Back and forth, with great plays on both sides. Even though I'm leaning towards the Cards, it could easily go either way. Two great teams...

If I could be unbiased on this series (which I am obviously not), I think I would like the Cardinals for the fact they can play the AL game better than the Sox can play the NL game. However, anything can happen in one series and I am going to enjoy every minute of it!!

I don't really mind who wins this World Series, heck, it's going to be hard to even watch. I would want the Sox to win to shut up the media about the curse, and I would want the Cards to win because of the respect I gained for them and their fans in the NLCS.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I'm pulling for the Cards here. I went to a Cardinals game this summer and they had great fans. No A-holes cussing behind me or making me uncomfortable. It was even a Cubs game and surprisingly (at least to me) Cards fans seemed to get along well with Cubs fans in the stands. Not at all what I was accustomed to going to Indians games. I also have been a Tony LaRussa fan for several years so it's all a natural fit for me to pull for the Cards.

FInally, I have this nagging fear the fabric of the universe will be torn asunder if the Sox win. So out of fear all Creation as we know it is threatened by a Sox victory I have more selfish reasons for rooting for the Cards.

Cards are a very good team, but I say Sox in 6.

While their bullpen is sick, none of their starters scare me at all. Williams and Suppan have been awesome this postseason.. but I'm not really scared of them.

Jim Edmonds, on the other hand, scares the living hell out of me. When he played for the Angels he always killed us.... and IIRC, he hit a game winning (or at least important) home run against us in the series we played last season at Fenway.

Either way, good luck Cardinal fans... I"m looking forward to a great series.

Who is going to DH for the Cards when we play at Fenway?

I'm really looking forward to a great series! Unfortunately I won't be able to be contributing during the games b/c I'll be up in Boston during the whole series.

I think this is going to be really wild - in Fenway it will probably be just like Sox/Yanks with the lineups and starters both clubs have. Since I think the teams are pretty evenly matched I'm worried to death (as a Sox fan) about LaRussa schooling Francona and I can only hope that even with his postseason experience that in the glare of the big lights or madness of Fenway LaRussa overmanages.

I can't give an honest prediction but I'm hoping for Sox in 6.
