Jones was a journeyman fighter and noncontender during the 50's. A talented fighter but streaky. Some nights he looked great and other nights - well, not so great. He earned a reputation as a spoiler and appeared on the Friday Night Fights more than any other fighter. He lost almost as many fights as he won, but he held wins over Kid Gavilon, Sugar Ray Robinson, Johnny Bratton, Joey Giardello and Charlie Humez.
