Importing rosters deletes players

I use the csv roster import to handle things like expansion. I also do it after the free agent period on many years to get rid of the multiple team listing on player careers for that year (since they didn't really play for multiple teams.

The first time I did it with the 6.10 patch, I saw one of the biggest bugs I've seen with OOTP.

When I imported the players, it put them all in the designated for assignment sections of their teams. There is a problem with this right off, though this wasn't the real bug, in that even minor leaguers went there and many would have to then clear waivers to go back into the minors. But that wasn't the real problem.

The real problem was that when I ran the computer manager on all teams, all the players in the league disappeared. There were no players on any teams or in the free agent pool. That's a pretty big bug. I figure it must be related to the way the DFA area is programmed.

Anyway, thankfully I still have the 6.03 patch around. Whenever I want to import rosters, I just switch back and use that.

Can someone else, if anyone has a chance, give this a try and see if the same thing happens for them?

Has Markus jumped back in anywhere to address some of the problems that are being reported with the update?

I'm glad I haven't installed it yet.

jnshmoo, Markus did pop into one of the threads about post-deadline trades initiated by the AI not needing waivers, but we haven't heard anything like "Gee, I guess this update needs a patch".

ctorg, Just did a roster export / import, and the players were all in DFA... but when I ran Computer Manager (either team by team or the "all teams" button under League Setup), all but a handful of players went to rosters, with 4-7 remaining in DFA. Nobody disappeared. *shrug*

If you can make it happen again, I'd be curious to know if the disappeared players are in the draft pool.

Hmmm. Thanks for checking. I do think that that's probably where they went, but I'm not sure. When I did a roster export and looked at it, the players were all listed as free agents, but the FA pool was empty. The only thing I could think of was that they were put into the draft, which is kind of weird.

I know when you import players from the Lahman DB during the off-season that they don't show up in the regular FA pool, but you can find them if you go into Edit Free Agents in League Setup, so maybe that's where these guys went.
