My Historical Name Generator files, which generate non-Latin, non-Asian names for use with pre-modern OOTP4 seasons/leagues, are now available at Baseball Sim Central. They're at:
http://baseballsimcentral.com/dloads/Out_of_the_Park/Out_of_the_Park_4/Extras/ My 5Seasons roster pack, which includes premade 1964, 1968, 1971, 1986, and 1991 seasons with managers and logos, is also allegedly available there at: http://baseballsimcentral.com/dloads/Out_of_the_Park/Out_of_the_Park_4/Rosters/ The 5Seasons pack contains updates to the previously-released individual season files and now includes multi-season challenges. The Historical Name Generator files are also available at Big City Baseball. (Hey, Henry: replace the individual seasons at BCB with the 5Season pack, would you?)

The Name Generator downloads just fine, but while the 5Seasons file has it own page and is allegedly hosted, trying to download it right now yields a 404 error.
Hopefully BBSC will get this all squared away this afternoon.

Thanks for these utilities, Malleus Dei. I'm really looking forward to using my beloved Tigers from 1968.
Having said that, do you have any idea if and when the download problem will be fixed? Thanks again. |

The Five Seasons file is now downloadable at Baseball Sim Central; go get it!
Henry, pull those five individual season files ASAP, please, and put up the revised, updated and improved 5seasons.zip (you can get it from BBSC) in their place. Thanks!

Thanks Malleus. I don't always like the style of your posts but your hard work is appreciated.

Henry: Thanks, for this and many other things.
Rich: Frankly, I don't give a damn. But, on a more cheerful note, I really do hope that you and everyone else enjoy the files.

The 5seasons.zip readme.txt file
================================= Five Seasons for OOTP4 OOTP4 is the best career historical baseball simulator in existence (thank you, Markus Heinsohn). Here are five good seasons to start career leagues of your own with, for the thinking man who realizes that "current" does not mean "best," and/or for those who think that baseball took a wrong turn (or several wrong turns) years ago. The five seasons are some of my favorites. 1964 was an awesome season with great performances and was also the beginning of the end for the old Yankee dynasty. 1968 was "The Last Pure Season" before the league structure of Major League Baseball was destroyed. 1971 featured the Orioles winning their division by 12 games with the help of 4 20+ game winners and also featured one hellacious divison race between the Giants and the Dodgers. 1986 featured one of the best postseasons ever, including the legendary Angels-Red Sox ALCS and the Mets-Red Sox World Series. 1991 was the year that "The Last Shall Be First" when Minnesota and Atlanta went from finshing dead last in their divisions in the previous year to end up facing one another in the 1991 World Series; it also marks the beginning of the Atlanta Braves' dynasty in the NL. Career mode is set on for all five seasons and finances are set off. Adjust to suit yourself. Remember that free agency did not exist in 1964, 1968, and 1971 - that decision wasn't made until 1975. Future Five Seasons plans include adding stadiums and (maybe) player photographs. HOW TO USE THESE FIVE FILES: 1. Rename any existing OOTP4 seasons that you have with the same names (1964, 1968, 1971, 1986, or 1991). 2. Unzip the files to your existing OOTP4 directory, whatever it is. Make sure that you do that with the "use folder names" option in your unzipping program ON or the seasons will not install properly. 3. Your game will now have five new career seasons. Enjoy. 4. I strongly recommend downloading and using my "OOTP4 Historical Name Generation Files" package with this set. It should be available as an OOTP4 add-on wherever you got this set. SOME RECOMMENDED FORMS OF CAREER PLAY: 1. Play Pure Baseball. Start with the 1964 or 1968 seasons and just keep on playing. No DH, no more expansion, no divisions, no nonsense...just great baseball, the way it ought to be. 2. Take the Earl Weaver Challenge. Take over the Orioles in 1968 and manage them through 1982. Use historical rookies (for the purist, turn trades off and only make historical ones manually!). Beat Earl's 1354-919 record over those years. 3. Take the Bobby Cox Challenge. Take over the 1991 Braves. Use historical rookies (again, for the purist, turn trades off and only make historical ones manually!). See if you can win more than just one World Series by 2002. ![]() 4. Take the P*t* R*s* Challenge. Take over the 1986 Reds. Don't bet on any games. ![]() 5. Take the Malleus Dei Family Challenge. Take over the 1964 Cardinals and attempt to rule the baseball world thereafter. ![]() (This set is dedicated to my Uncle John and my mother, absolute utter total last-ditch to-the-bitter-end diehard Cardinal fans.) Iatric: As usual, I contribute, and then some yammerhead, instead of just saying "thank you for your contribution," has to make sure that he includes a personal shot in his message. A simple "thank you" from him would have got a simple "you're welcome" back from me; instead, he got back what he earned, as you are about to.
That wasn't any of your damned business, Iatric, and you had no reason besides malice to criticize me for it. So up yours. Even so, as I said to Rich, "on a more cheerful note, I really do hope that you and everyone else enjoy the files." Even you, Iatric.

I don't think he deserved your comment since there was nothing malicious in his comment. All he said was that he didn't agree with your posts. That's not an attack in my opinion. Yes, he could have left it out, but he also started on a positive note and ended on a positive note. You however just lashed out at him. Is it any of my business. Not usually and I usually refrain to commenting about your posts but everyone has their limit and I didn't think you should have went after him like that. So all I did was point out that there were other responses as well. It wasn't an attack, I didn't lash out at you, I just merely stated an alternative response that may have been more appropriate. You on the other hand again lower the level of intelligence by attacking me and attempting to say what my intention was (that it was malicious which it definitely was not). As for your utilities... keep them to youself. You won't find me attempting to use them. As I've stated before, you've done some good for OOTP, but I feel that it is far outweighed by the number of people you've driven away. But then why waste my breath. No matter how many people say it.... you'll never get it. Its like talking to a wall, but then a even a wall wouldn't have the vicious responses that you usually reply with. Was it really necessary to resort to a childish comment like "Up Yours". Ooooooh! That really hurts. I guess now we'll see mini-malleus come out and defend papa. Reply if you want, I have nothing more to say. As far as I'm concerned, you no longer exist in my world. And on a cheerful note, good luck with your contributions. Iatric, don't get worked up over it, flaming people on message boards to show what a tough guy you are is stupid, juvenile, petty, childish. Should I continue?
Malleus, I know you don't give a damn and frankly, neither do I. I've been critical of your attitude in the past and may be so in the future. It won't change you or me so I choose to not let it bother me. What I posted was neither a flame nor an insult but my opinion, surely nothing for you to lose sleep or your temper over? Thank you Mal, I haven't played with the file yet but am sure I'll enjoy especially the 86 season. Hopefully I can do better then that dope McNamara and win the series for my boys. Malleus -
Just curious, but why do you even participate on the board? You seem to truly despise the other people on it (vets and newbies alike). You can play OOTP, create your utilities and make them available to the public w/o ever logging in to the board.

Iatric: Like I care. I will enjoy you ignoring me; in fact my life will be better without your pompous ass shtick (amazing how you accuse me of being what you so clearly are) in it. Go take your abuse and heap it elsewhere. And as for insulting my son gratuitously - someone not even involved in the conversation - that was so low as to be beneath even such as a creature as you. If you have any shame, which I doubt, then be ashamed of yourself.
Rich: "I know you don't give a damn and frankly, neither do I." Good. I can deal with that. "I've been critical of your attitude in the past and may be so in the future. It won't change you or me" So why bother being critical? You know I don't give a damn. Just deal with the issues, and leave all of the personal stuff out of it. Okay, I'm as a mean as a bear when you poke at me - but smart people don't poke bears with sticks. "Thank you Mal, I haven't played with the file yet but am sure I'll enjoy especially the 86 season." That's one of the best seasons in baseball history - it's full of bad memories for most Angels and Sox fans, though. "Hopefully I can do better then that dope McNamara and win the series for my boys." Well, I think my beagle could do better than John "Death House" MacNamara did. Talk about a mismanager. "Thanks Malleus. I don't always like the style of your posts but your hard work is appreciated." You're welcome. I hope that you enjoy the seasons and the name generator. There will be more things coming. "What is a yammerhead anyway? I couldn't find any description of such an animal anywhere online." LOL. It's an old Robert Heinlein term for people who say useless things and actually contribute nothing. "In all seriousness, quick question Mal, when I play the 1986 file, will I have to set the league totals to get realistic results or should I change them myself?" My advice? Sim it all the way through once, look at your totals, adjust them to suit your preferences, and sim again. Repeat until you like the results you get. Reinstall the season. Plug in your numbers. Enjoy. Mad0die: "Just curious, but why do you even participate on the board?" Well, this used to be a decent board. The optimist in me says that it might become so again. But mainly these days I make announcements here and provide information for the benefit of others. "You seem to truly despise the other people on it (vets and newbies alike)." Well, the ones who actually are despicable (see above) and/or criminally stupid, yes. But there are some decent people here and a few really good ones. "You can play OOTP, create your utilities and make them available to the public w/o ever logging in to the board." Gee, thank you for pointing out the self-evident: did you realize that you personally can actually unplug your own Internet connection and delete all your own browser software, and so keep all of your self-evident thoughts utterly to yourself? Just checking.
