LA Dodgers - A Class Act
Did anyone notice the Dodgers, as a team go out and congratulate the Cardinals after the game yesterday? I can't remember ever seeing that before after a MLB game.
We've seen it in other sports, but I can't ever remember seeing the losing team in baseball go out and shake hands with the winners. Los Angeles has a Winner of a team in my book. |

That's cool. I really wish more teams would do this.

Very nice. Whoever had this idea should be given an award ... or a raise if it was a coach
Nicely done.

It sure shows what a class organization the Dodgers are. Of course I may be a little biased but it's definitely nice to see.

I agree; the gesture was a really classy response, particularly in this era of ME! ME! ME! athletics.

Agreed. Nice to see that act of sportsmanship, even though apparently it was pre-planned. Dissapointing to hear Dodger fans cheer when Pujols fouled a pitch off his shin in the ninth. |

turn on The Dan Patrick show for some "enlightened" commentary from Rob Dibble on the Dodgers/Cards handshakes.

They really did well against a team that on paper was MUCH, MUCH better than they were.
And Lima Time will probably be the best story coming out of these very, very long playoffs I just realized that as much as I hate the Wild card as a purist...I do love hanging onto the baseball season a little longer |

That was without a doubt, one of the coolest things I've seen on a baseball field. Funny thing is, after the Sox clinched on Friday I mentioned how it was too bad that teams don't line up for a handshake at the end of a series as is tradional in the NHL playoffs.

Well I don't like the idea as a whole...some teams have no heated rivalry, AKA boring expansion teams...or the Cards and Dodgers who always seem to be on the opposite side of the win spectrum. I do not recall in 100 years where the Cards and Dodgers battled for a pennant.
The Red Sox and Yankees shaking hands...no...that would kill the tradition. Dodgers and Giants...nah, no way White Sox and Indians....nope Cubs and Cards...hahahaha Phillies and Mets....I would pull my hair out A's and Mariners....cream puff teams anyway D-backs and Marlins, sure why not, who cares. D-Rays and Orioles....hug all ya want |

It was indeed a great show of respect and sportsmanship - but my curious mind does wonder if Milton Bradley would've rather ripped off someone's arm while he was doing it.

I am as big a Cardinal fan as they come.
What the Dodgers did was awesome, and my hats off to them. It WAS a class thing to do, no matter what that dickhead Patrick, and the even bigger dickhead Dibble had to say. |

For the record Patrick thought it was great, it was Dibble who said he didn't like it.. apparently after the game the Dodgers should have "hated" the Cardinals.
as for teams with great rivalries not wanting to do this... the Avs and Wings do it. I remember being a kid and going to Blues/Blackhawks playoff games and seeing them shake hands after beating each other up for 7 games. Those rivalries are (were with the Hawks/Blues) as heated as Yanks/Sox |
