Question about hockey logos
Are there other boards like this one where people go to for logos in other sports? Reason I ask is that I have a hockey idea, and I wil be needing about 16 hockey logos. I would prefer to just do it here since I like the logo making community here, but if that's bad etiquette, I'm hoping that people can at least point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Thanks Pepe, I really appreciate that. I know it's not baseball or ootp, but I feel comfortable here and would prefer working from here. You guys make great logos, and everyone here is nice. Plus Eugen gives the best feedback!
![]() I need 16 logos. The fun part is that I haven't named the teams yet, so I'd like help with that as well. I kow Eugene is great with stuff like that. The 16 teams are as follows: Eastern Conference New York Americans (Statue of Liberty?) Boston Philadelphia Halifax Nauticals? Montreal (would like the fleur de lis incorporated if possible) Quebec Citadels Toronto Ottawa Western Conference Calgary Cowboys Edmonton Vancouver Saskatoon Twin Cities(MN) Chicago Detroit Winnipeg I generally like names that have something to do with the region, but I'm very open minded about the whole thing. I'll try and think of some names myself, but I definitely would love to hear ideas from the community as well. Thanks in advance. ![]() One idea I had was to name the New York team the Americans and incorporate the Statue of Liberty into the design. Last edited by knuckler; 09-20-2004 at 03:59 AM. |

knuckler, I don't know much about hockey, but will do some research and try to come up with some nicknames that will relate to the history and culture of the city.
New York Americans sounds good...with the Statue of Liberty. Last edited by Eugene Church; 09-19-2004 at 11:35 PM. |

Thanks Eugene. I know from that big thread from last summer, that you know a lot about cities and always come up with really good nicknames. That thread was a lot of fun.

What do you guys think? Is there a better name that would fit with the Nautical theme that I am missing? Mariners? Marines? Beacons?

All of those are fine and that is an excellent logo...in fact it is better than my suggestion...put a wide light blue border around your logo...IMO it would make it a little better.
Ignore my suggestions, if you like...it will not hurt my feelings. My suggestion would be the Halifax Citadels. This was a real team, so Citadels must have some relationship to the city. And here is a logo you might alter: Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-23-2005 at 02:18 PM. |

Only use my suggestions if you like them. It will not hurt my feelings if you do not use them.
How about the Saskatoon Slapshots? Here is an idea for the logo...you would have to create a better one than this example, but it would give you some idea: Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-23-2005 at 02:18 PM. |

Boston Red Blades...maybe create something similar to the Boston Red Sox logo (sorry, I looked, but didn't find a good Blades logo)...if you can't find any ice skate blades...just use a hockey player on the ice...put that figure in a hockey puck...and put Boston and Red Blades in the outer circle around the puck.

Montreal Rockets...named for famed Maurice "Rocket" Richard.
Use the Houston Rockets current logo...PrestonKaye did a great Rockets for me...see if you can change it to Montreal or get him to do it. Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-23-2005 at 02:18 PM. |

Ottawa Capitols...as you know it is the capitol of Canada.
Here is a good idea for a logo...maybe you could make the oval around the logo more round to create an "O" for Ottawa...also included is a link for a better view of the logo...also colors IMO are better. see Cowichan Valley Capitols...the large red and blue version: http://www.logoserver.com/CJAHL-BCHL.html Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-23-2005 at 02:18 PM. |

Remember...only use these suggestions if you really like them...don't use them just to be nice to me.
Chicago Hitmen...a double meaning nickname...gangster hitmen of the Prohibition Era and also the violent hitmen in hockey. Someone created Chicago Hitmen logo, but I couldn't find it on this forum. But I did find this: Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-23-2005 at 02:18 PM. |

Calgary Wranglers or Calgary Cowboys...because of the great Calgary Stampede event.
Here is a suggestion...it is not real good quality-wise...but I'm sure someone can take it and make it better...the figures and lettering needs to be larger to show up in OOTPB: Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-23-2005 at 02:18 PM. |

Those are awesome Eugene, thanks man. You are so helpful all of the time! I like the Citadels one for Quebec, as well as the Slapshots one. Really helpful.
![]() I went so far as to design a sweater for the Nauticals. ![]() Also, I editted the post with the cities to reflect Calgary Cowboys and Quebec Citadels(Quebec had their own Citadel so this works perfect). I really like those a lot. Also, I am leanig towards Montreal Rockets, especially if I can find out the french word for Rockets. Thanks Eugene.
