Sometimes it seems like we're on the verge of some sort of uprising here, while other times the fanboys seem to be on patrol. Just checking to see what everyone's general feeling about the current state of the game is.

I think the game's been pretty good overall but it's a shame that everything promised hasn't been delivered. In all honesty everyone has to think twice now before putting forward the cash for OOTP 7.

I`m quite satisfied with the gameplay itself (with patch 6.03 the AI is quite good) but there are issues which have prevented me from playing it as much as other editions. For one thing, player ratings and features such as development do not seem to have been fully described or understood and thus it`s much harder to fiddle around with rosters and such.

I have played OOTP5 quite a bit, solo. I have only purchased OOTP6 this past weekend. I wish I had read the boards before doing so. I am disappointed with documentation about how all these modifiers are working.

I don't understand why I feel I have to run so many test leagues to find the best set of modifiers that will give me reasonable results. I feel like I just payed $35 to beta test.

I personally gave it a 7. The whole Promised But Unadded Feature That Must Not Be Named thing isn't much of an issue for me and my leagues. There are problems with Win ME compatibility, though. And the player development problems do continue to hinder me.

8 for me. There are a few issues, but no deal-breakers for me. There are some annoyances, but there are with any game. I can't see how anybody could say that they didn't get their money's worth out of it.

Meh.

5....nothing special. I paid $35 to run more test leagues than one could imagine. Didn't really add much in the end since I play mostly online. This game did very little for online leagues but change the engine. Seemingly, most online components weren't tested thoroughly (although we'll be told they were).

How hard is it for an override button or something.

Doc Aven gives OOTP6 a 4. Lots of features in the new version feel half-assed. I don't play OOTP solo anymore because for various reasons I don't think it does a particularly good job of recreating a baseball universe. If it weren't for my online leagues I'd probably stop playing altogether. Granted, I'm quite fussy about my baseball games but OOTP just has too many lingering issues or areas that need improvement for me to take it very seriously.

The single best part of OOTP is still the message boards. I confess I spend far more time here than I do struggling to recreate an era/universe with the game.

I did just put up the money for XP Professional, but I've been lazy about actually installing it because I have so little time and so many programs I'd have to reinstall. I'd love to make it so they both could run, but I have no idea how and I'm betting it would take even longer.

Oh, I agree. Even when I've gone a month without playing, as is sometimes the case, I never go more than a day or two without coming here.

I'd give it an 8 if I could have a playoff series in a 1-league 2-division scenario. But I rarely play solo anymore so I give it a 6.

As an online league game, I give it a 9. If I could delete my e-mails (in an online league), I'd give it a 10. But much of the credit for that goes to my commissioners and fellow owners, who have really made participating in the leagues a blast.
