Oddball Spring Taining bug

Has anyone here ever experienced not being able to edit point distributions for various players in Spring Training?

I'm assuming that this is somehow caused by the amount of abuse I've heaped upon the league files, but my solo league occassionally runs into this situation. I'm sure my multiplayer would as well, except all my owners go with 5's (usually).

Noteworthy items -
*it orginally started with STBB and has jumped through various conversions since then.
*Leagues started within OOTP6 don't seem to experience this problem.
*In the past I've suffered from the "vanishing player syndrome," caused by a couple of owners who had too many players at the time.
*The number of players this effects is relatively low - maybe one out of ten, if even that. Most of my owners prefer straight 5's, but every now and then when they want to get creative it can cause a bit of a problem.
*These players are not just veterans from the STBB era (most originated in V5).
*On the players I cannot edit, I seem to be able to get a clicking sound as if I was hitting the '+' and '-' when clicking while the cursor is shifted over a space as if the '+' is where the '-' should be, and the '-' is actually located in the gap between the ratings.
*I'm also not on Spring Training, currently, but I have a backup of the prior season that I could quickly run through if anyone wants my to test something.
*I experienced this in V5 as well, and hoped it would magically vanish come conversion to V6

Any ideas/input would be helpful.
