Red face Trade Procedure Query

I have just started playing OOTB6 and made my first trade. The players that I traded went right into the other team's starting lineup, but mine ended up in Triple A. When I attempted to drag the player to my active roster I got the message that he had to be on the 40 man roster first. After I dragged him there, and attempted to drag him to the active roster, I got the message that he had to be put on wavers first (Irrevocable wavers)!

Did I do something wrong? Can it be corrected? What should I have done?

if he's in the 40-man roster already, try to drag his name from the Triple-A to the active roster.. see if it will work..

Thanks for your reply. I tried this but received the message "drag your player to the lower right part of the screen" (the waver box). Now I'm afraid that I have lost the star player that I just traded for!

nope you will not lose him.. if you move him in the lower right box, you will just remove him in the waiver wire..

So the bottom line: How can I get him onto my active roster without losing him to irrevocable wavers?

That's a thought for my next solo league. Hope I don't have to start it tomorrow! If worst comes to worst I could let him go onto waivers and hope for the best - but he was a first round draft choice - the 8th pick overall.

I guess I'll wait 24 hrs before deciding to start over.

I have just disabled waivers, but it had no effect on my problem. My change might not take effect until after I play the next game - if at all.

Possibly this is a bug in OOTP6. It would be nice if the manual were available. In any event, your idea is interesting and worth a try. Thanks.

Assuming there is space on both your 40-man and active rosters, to promote a newly acquired player to the majors:

1) Drag the player from the Triple-A box to the 40-man roster.
2) Drag the player from the Triple-A box to the active roster.

I know ... Actually, I thought it was likely that his roster was full, but I just tried it and there's a separate error message for that... so beats me too.

Since I traded 2 players for one, I had 2 open places on my active roster. When dragging my new player from triple A to the active roster, I got the message that he had to be on the 40 man roster first. Once there, when I tried to drag him to the active roster I got the message to drag him to the lower right box. When I dragged him there, he refused because he was in the last year of his contract.

The only other thing that I can think of is that, even though I have financials turned off, I don't quite have enough money left to cover his salary. I don't know if my available cash figure includes is exorbitant salary (he already is on my 40 man roster) or not. If I still have to have money for his salary, that may be why the trade won't "take". On the other hand, if that would make the trade fail, shouldn't I get my 2 original players back? It still may be a bug. Has anyone been able to trade players in OOTB6? Thanks for your comments guys!

It still sorta sounds like this is the problem...

AFAIK, you would only get the "To do this, drag the player to the lower right box" message if you trying to drag someone from the 40-man roster box.

Jeremy, you are right. I first attempted your item# 2 and received the message that the newly acquired player must first be on the 40-man roster before he could go on the Active roster. I then successfully performed your item# 1 -- and that's where the matter stands. My player is now locked in the 40-man roster box with nowhere to go - and he refuses to go from there to the lower right box becuase he is in the last year of his contract!

The player can exist in more than one place in the transactions screen. The attached image shows the two steps to get newly aquired pitcher P. Delavega onto the active roster. Hope it helps some.

Great job Gubaru. That is the answer! My acquired player was a 2B and after I dragged him to the 40-man roster from AAA, my AAA window reverted to showing the top half of the roster (mainly pitchers). You are exactly right. I never considered that he would still exist in the original AAA window. The OOTP5 manual doesn't spend much time on the transaction window. I hope this will be corrected in the new manual.

I now realize that the 40-man roster window is a status window and the Active, AAA, AA, & A are location windows. Everyone in the 40-man roster window will be scattered throughout the location windows. The original act of dragging my new player to the 40-man roster was an act of changing his status - not his location! This was the answer/solution to my problem. Grateful thanks.

I think you should do first #1, before #2.. just like the diagram above my post..

AAA-> 40-man roster
AAA-> active roster

Actually my answer to the diagram is now above your post (took me a while to write it). Please read to see the resolution the the problem. You guys are all great. Maybe one of you guys should run for Governor of New Jersey. There's going to be an opening there.
