Is there any way to turn off the play-by-play and just get the basics? Without having to read that much after every play to figure out what just happened.

Not an option.

Most people want more details and whatnot in their play-by-play and you want less.
I do not envy Markus one bit. |

I would prefer to have nothing more than the play result (such as groundout 4-3, runner on 2nd advances to 3rd). It makes the game go nice and briskly. As it is, I already have the pbp set to its fastest speed so I can get to the result.

I really like the way the PBP is set up now. If you put the PBP on the left and set it to instant you can just read what you want. Personally I like it on the bottom and set it to Fast. I find that it adds some to the suspense of some plays. Really makes you feel it when they make an out in an important situation.

The PbP would be much quicker and cleaner (and better paced, IMO) if you took out all the "he fields it cleanly..." and "could be a double play..." lines...
... not that anyone has ever said this before.

I like the PBP as is. But I wouldn't mind even more variety in outcomes and wording.
The supposed verbosity is designed to add "color" and "realism." Although it's not perfect, I strongly prefer leaving the color and realism in. But if it were ever possible to make it only an option, that'd be fine with me. |

Oddly enough, I'd think having a Joe Friday ("Just the facts, Ma'am") option would cut down on some of the complaints about the PbP authenticity and depth because it would then entirely depend upon the imagination of the viewer - something that will always exceed whatever is typed into code.

Putting PBP on the fastest speed is usually a pretty easy way to figure out what happened I think. Just read the last line. You should have a clear indication of what happened. I'm guessing you want something like single-RF-Men on 1 & 3.

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking. Don't get me wrong - I like the PbP - but it might be nice for some people.
