Player release question

In an online league I've given the owners the ability to release players on their own. But for some reason it is not working. Everything but the release works, all other roster adjustments. I do not get the pop up asking me to release their player. It does show up in the Team's transaction news, but not the league transaction news that the cut was made.

We are in Free Agency and I thought maybe I had to get past that point, but with a test file I tried that to no avail. Is a re-install in order or are there bigger problems? Any input appreciated.

2nd season of OOTP6 after 3 in OOTP5. The release option worked just fine all of last season. Had a couple of weird things happen as I generated reports between seasons. The amateur draft toggled itself to 32774 rounds and the minor league free agents toggled itself to disabled from enabled. Those were both fixed and the file was then turned over to the recent season without any problem. We use Rocco's Trade Deadline roster set. 2 created Free Agents were added.

Thanks

This could be a foggy memory of mine, but I thought that I remember it being said that player releases wouldn't work during the off-season. Now that I think more about it, I think I'm just imagining that though.

I thought that may be it as well, but I forwarded the test file to the regular season and nothing changed. Has to be something on my side since this would be known by now, I just don't know where to look. If all else fails I'll just re-install and hope for the best.

You're positive that you have that release option enabled on the file? What does the transaction on the team transaction page say?

yes, it is enabled on the file and it is allowing the teams to release the players. When the file is imported it just doesn't show that. Like I said, all other moves are working just fine too, it's very odd. I release players in leagues I'm in without problem too.

I use the same exact file as the owners. It actually is only showing up that the player is being released on the team side news section, and my file is overwriting that if that makes sense....overwriting it and showing that the team did not release anyone until I do it for them. I'm stumped.

You must be right. My testing had to have been flawed trying to test between 2 backups and exporting with the backup1, importing with backup 2. We've hit February 28th, free agency is over and we're about to begin the rule 5 draft and releases work just fine now. I could've sworn they worked in free agency last season but that was before the last couple of patches.

Anyways, it is working fine, sorry for any inconvenience.

I think that is how Markus fixed the player release bug in v5. He must have disabled it during the off-season (which was when the problem would arise).
