Funny amateur name...

Had to laugh when I saw Thomas Thomas among the list of amatuer draftees in my fictional league. He's just a 1 star closer, so I doubt he'll make it, but I'm gonna have to keep an eye on him.

Anybody else ever get any double names?

Update: Thomas Thomas went undrafted, but was signed to a minor league contract by the Oklahoma City Twisters two days later.

This wasn't on OOTP, but rather Madden 2005 (unfortunately a test sim for settings) but I had a RB named Mike Hunt, no joke. (If you've never heard it, sound it out carefully)

I have a Mike Hunt in my current league.

What's odd about Thomas Thomas? One of my friends is named James James.

I wonder if some names are the results of a) parents bereft of creativity, b) parents who are sadists and enjoy watching their kids be tormented throughout their lives, or c) parents that really ARE creative and just deciding to buck convention.

Regardless, it's a pretty sad state of affairs starting around first grade (I remember one guy who had a slightly effeminate name in my first grade class get the ultimate tease - "Why didn't they just make you a girl! HAHAHA!")

All I know is that I had a rookie named Bill Buckner, who was a one-star pitcher who won't amount to anything. However, being the Yankees, I signed him to a minor league deal.

The last I heard, Phuc hadn't changed his name, but finally had to unlist his phone number.

Ah, that reminds me of one that I forgot. I have a cousin named Harry Schlitz.

No, I'm not kidding.

My favorite real name I've seen (other than Phuc Yu) was Harry Wang. One of my co-workers had to contact him and didn't have his phone #. Can you imagine calling 411 and asking for Harry Wang.

I've mentioned this in other threads, I know a guy named Mike Hock. He's a salesman for a dealer that my company supplies. His name comes up quite frequently in our sales meetings for comic relief. We have another one tomorrow, and I'm sure someone will want to run something by Mike Hock before the day is out.

In real life, I remember a hulking Eastern-European college basketball player named Anton ****a. You pronounce his last name very carefully = "Fooch-ka". His nickname was "Big Mother". Too bad he never made it to the NBA.

My favorite OOTPB name has to be Harry Arreola (the areola is the pink flesh disc around the nipple), whom I quickly nicknamed "Snapper". My other favorite, I ended up mentioning the other day, a very qualified reliever named Solomon Dingler.

EDIT: The automatic censor won't let me spell Anton "Big Mother" ****a's last name. His last name is spelled PUCKA, except instead of a P, he has an F.
