Crashing between seasons

Hardware:
Athlon 2800+ XP
120 GB Serial ATA HDD -- 80 GB free
Everything else is pretty high quality and doesn't have problems with any other games/programs/utilities.
Windows XP
v6.03 OOTPBB

I'm currently using the mlb for 2004 player pack and am having a problem when i try to 'Proceed to next season'. It runs through the generating player reports but crashes everytime It gets to the Generating Team reports box.

I have not tried to recreate this with the basic 'random' roster names yet. Kinda hoping someone else had this problem too and found a resolution.

I have had this problem for a while, even after a reformat. Luckily the when the game restarts it comes back to the proceed to next season button and I can try again. Usually can get past after a couple of tries. It is however, very aggravating to have to do this. Any time the game generates reports this can happen. When I create a master html report for use with the ERA Calculator it does the same thing. Funny thing is sometimes it works the first time (only occasionally) and sometimes it doesn't.

Is the problem that you get a runtime error?

If so, I just came across this using halofan's rosters. I completed 2004 and 2005 successfully but when I try to complete 2006, it generates player reports, league reports, team reports, and then gives me a runtime error when the window says it's "Proceeding to Next Year".

There's no runtime error # listed, it just says:

Program: (the location of my OOTP6.exe)

abnormal program termination

The only difference with my system between completing the 2005 season and 2006 is that I have installed DirectX 9.0C.

If the only way to get through it is to keep on trying then I'm stuck as I've at least tried 10 times to get it to 2007.

Please help.

I ran into that problem a while back. I couldn't find a solution after days of tweaking the league file and ended up abandoning my league. I know that's not much help, but maybe it'll keep you from banging your head against a brick wall for too long.

My guess is that the problem is the user created "league file" since it appears to only happen in certain rare circumstances.

I have this exact same problem (halofan roster set as well). It's actually a bit worse on my machine since when I reload the league the day is 1/19 and it's telling me to start the Rule 5 draft. No FA signing, no ammy draft, nothing. I've lost two long-term franchises to this

As I mentioned to me it sounds like some sort of roster set issue since that apparently is the only type of league that has been effected, I'd try a different type league or use a different league file.

Well, I just uninstalled and reinstalled OOTP 6 tried to simulate 5 seasons using the fantasy roster that comes with the game. It crashed while going from the 2006 - 2007 season and once again skipped Free Agency and the Ammy Draft.

Any thoughts?

Windows XP Pro, Dell Laptop with a 2ghz P-4, 1.0GB RAM, 50GB HD with OOTP 6.03

I put a fresh install of OOTP on, clicked Create a Standard League, started it with a fantasy draft. I then chose to simulate 5 seasons. After the 2006 season, while generating team reports, the game crashed with the same error message that's listed above. When I loaded the game back up the date was 1/19/07 and I was told to complete the Rule 5 Draft and it then moved onto Spring Training. I had to simulate through 3 months with nothing going on in order to get to the beginning of the season.

EDIT: Just tried to go from 2007 -> 2008 and the exact same thing happened.
