Cardinal Fan 2004 Roster Set and Contraction

I'm guessing most leagues using either this roster set or Halofan's set doesn't contract teams but the RnB league had an interesting concept of contracting the Yankees and Mets and moving Milwaukee back to the AL. The only problem is, doing so corrupts the file and sims cannot be done. OOTP6 crashes. When I sim using the original files without contraction and realignment, the roster sets work just fine. BTW, since I contracted and realigned, I also regenerated the schedule since the Mets and Yankees would no longer exist and could not be in the schedule.

Has anyone tried this or have an idea why doing this causes the game to crash? Your assistance is greatly appreciated!!

Didn't know you were running another league. Thought you were only running the OCL and LOTG?

My guess is he took over for the commish RsEoDx 86 (with a dazzling 4 posts who just joined the forum when the league started) who probably bailed on the league like most current roster leagues.

Bingo! I was just an owner and the AL President when it was clear that the original commissioner had disappeared and left the webmaster to run the league. This league was worth saving so I am taking it under my wings.

As far as the issue, looks like we found a work around to make it work. We do have an opening. The Anaheim Angels (used to be owned but the commissioner that abandoned the league) are available. If interested, check out the site at: http://hostultra.com/~bayken37/main.html

You'll see that the webmaster is excellent and I will make sure this league is successful.

Too bad you had to dump T80L as commish because of lack of time, and I see you joined another league as an owner and now taking over another as a commish. Maybe you should tell guys you can dump any league you start at a moments notice than they wont be as pissed off.

Yes I was in T80L..ran what half a season...I was probibly the most active of the owners sending in exports every time and talking with other guys on trades. So you understand why I get pissed off my time was waisted as the league folded when you take over other leagues and teams. I recently left LOTG for this exact reason... I am not gona put time into a league that can fold at any min the second the commish is borded with it.

As someone involved with a few of these leagues, I have to say that Dan is not a guy who just abandons leagues because he is bored with them. He is doing the owners of RNB a big time service after the old commish started a league without test sims and then bailed on it after an awesome site was posted, intial trades were made, and a contraction draft was completed.

There is no reason at all to knock LOTG as it is a very strong league with a large core of orginal owners. I put a lot of the credit for the strength of that league squarely with Dan.

As for T80L, I would have to say that while it had many of the same elements of LOTG, it was not an active league. There were VERY few trades ever made and there was just not a good chemistry to the league. I had to deal a top SP who was only 26 and it took me DAYS to do that and in most league it would've taken an hour or less. Dan had an original idea, a nice website, and a good group of owners. It just didn't gel.

Dan had a unique opportunity to run the OOTP convention league...to most people that would be considered an honor of some level. At the same time, he had a "dead league" in the T80L. I had a lot of time invested in that league too, but I could see that it wasn't going anywhere... No one likes to see a league fold, but they fold all the time.

I know that at one time Dan took over the BALL league and that turned out to be an excellent league. I don't know if he wants to run RNB until another commish can be found or if he would stay on as the long term commish. I would think that commishing a league is hard work and so I try to be respectful of guys running leagues since they allow me to enjoy my hobby.

I can understand why someone would be upset with a league folding, but Dan was pretty straight up about running OCL in favor of T80L.

If you have been around OOTP for any length of time you should know that a commish who honestly explains why a league is folding and offers the file to anyone who wants to run the league is the best case scenerio for league closing. Dan did both of those things and you still are angry with him? No one else stepped up to run that league...

The closing of T80L was completely justified and Dan did the right thing. You had every chance to take over the league if you wanted and you decided not too. Dan is an excellent commish and I enjoy his leagues. I was also an owner inT80L and understood the league needed to be closed even though I was having fun. Sometimes it isn't all about what one or two individual owners want, it is about what is best for the league as a whole.

Also I am sure you will flame me for this but I will not be viewing this thread again so you might as well save your words for someone who cares.

No Flame Cowboy just facts ...

Your not gona see lots of trades right after we did a redraft of the whole roster. And I believe their was a grand total of what 2-3 trades the first season of LOTG?? So to say it took you a couple days to trade a pitcher, sorry the min you decided to move a guy all the other owners didnt sign on and flood you with offers.

If you remember 1-2 weeks prior to the closing of T80L, Dan said he was thinking of dumping it but got a lot or responces to keep it going. Dan himself said he was suprised at the responce to keep it going and he decided to not dump it. Than he goes on vacation for a week or so and comes back does 1 sim and its folded. T80L had simmular activaty for a 1/2 season as did LOTG, of course we know in season 3 of LOTG things have picked up. I remember in season 1 of LOTG WEEKS would go by with noone posting anything of news or on message board.

Of course AFTER the fact your gona push the low activaty level reason but when the guy takes on 2-3 other responsibilities just before dumping T80L I question his resolve. I for one cant trust taking up my time in any league a commish is gona drop a league when "Other OOTP Opertunities Arise "
