Biggest trade of all time?

Mays and Killebrew are hte biggest names, but many of the others are real good players as well...

I don't think I have ever seen 2 guys who are arguably the 2 best hitters in the league traded at such young ages....

http://www.ourfamiglia.com/OOTP/FORT/
Take a look at the gazette, and check out those 2, and the others...

Cardinals send:
~2b Harmon "Killer" Killebrew
~SP Al Jurisich
~MR Johnny Antonelli
~OF Erv Dusak
~1st Round Pick in next season's draft
~2nd Round Pick in next season's draft

White Sox send:
~CF Willie Mays
~SP Dave Ferriss
~CL Ike Delock
~MR Don Kaiser
~3B Wayne Causey

What's the biggest deal in your league's history?

How many times did this deal go back and forth before it was clinched?

I am the commish for FORT, and I was talking to both sides during the negotations...

It went back and forth probably 20 times that I heard about, and I most likely missed a few counter offers...

I was actually able to help both sides with counter offers, since I knew the end result of what both teams wanted to get out of the deal...

In

In the MLBr we saw a Ty Cobb-for-Babe Ruth trade in 1915.

Ruth the pitcher I assume, not the hitter?
Still a huge deal either way... but bigger I think as Ruth the hitter...

hit

Ruth was a pitcher at the time, and was a good one, but I converted him to an outfielder a few years later.

I was the one who made that trade. I sent Cobb for Ruth and then got kicked out of the league shortly after! The League Commish is a complete a$$hole and the league is full of people who do nothing but kiss up to him and follow his every command. MLBR is probably one of the worst run leagues I have ever seen.

The commish and the guy running the website decided they did not like me because I "talked too much trash"and then my days were numbered. They both made a bunch of false claims about me and then kicked me out.

I have been in FORT for awhile now and everyone knows what a fair player I am but for some reason those jokers in MLBr decided my time was up!!

Sorry for the rant but just had to express my opinion!!! I am very glad to be in FORT and think it is one of the best leagues in all of OOTP land!!!

to hear

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, I think an unfortunate combination of circumstances led to that conflict. Since I’ve been in the league, all I’ve heard were positive things about the ‘former Cardinals owner.’

Both trades are definetly jaw droppers but it's hard to say which one is bigger. To me it depends on the future impact. I can speak for MLBr and say St. Louis (w/Ruth) has won one pennant in 7 season's since and Washington (without Ruth) has won- well nothing.

My tenure at MLBr as the Pirates GM began shortly before your's ended and my experience with the league has been nothing short of stellar. Despite the extended delay in converting to OOTP6 it remains one of my best online experiences. It's a great league that is run as well as any I've been associated with.

As for my experience with you, I was and still am of the opinion that you should just be ignored. Your trash talking was lame and you did nothing to disprove your immaturity by threadjacking this topic with your "opinion".

My apologies Randall but I couldn't let that stand. Hopefully we can now return to the regularly scheduled topic.

In Pioneers of the Diamond (POTD) I orchestrated a monster deal three seasons ago when landing probably the marquee player of the league, James Eberle, whose player page can be found at http://www.potd.simleaguecentral.com/league/p667.html

Note that the trade occurred in v5, but his talents/ratings remain the same as they were during the trade three seasons ago. The only difference is he was obviously 3 years younger at the time, but being that he was already developed as is at the age of 24, he was the primo player to go after... here's the deal it took...

To Glacier Bay
CF James "The Professor" Eberle (from Oklahoma)
SP Joey Gutierrez (from Oklahoma)

To Oklahoma
CF Cary Dolby (from Glacier Bay)
SP Michael Alves (from Glacier Bay)
SP Earnest Leonard (from Glacier Bay)
SP Gasper Muniz (from Crab Apple Cove)
SS Daryl Franklin (from Mississauga)

To Mississauga (now known as Minneapolis)
CL Jose Castro (from Glacier Bay)
MR Alberto Machuca (from Glacier Bay)
Richmond's second round draft pick

To Crab Apple Cove
CL Barney Fernandez (from Glacier Bay)
2B Brent Aurand (from Glacier Bay)
MR Wade Kirkpatrick (from Glacier Bay)
Glacier Bay's second round draft pick
Glacier Bay's fourth round draft pick
$2 million cash (from Glacier Bay)

To Richmond
Glacier Bay's third round draft pick
Oklahoma's third round draft pick
Mississauga's third round draft pick

One interesting to note about this trade is Oklahoma was, and still is, a powerhouse... before and after this deal. Likewise, I've also been a powerhouse since this deal with three straight 100+ win seasons, but they've resulted in a bunch of early postseason exits.

Just in sheer size that trade is unbelievable. How that was all kept straight is a miracle unto itself!

This trade probably isn't on par with the other three, but it did see the likes of Magglio Ordonez, Josh Beckett and others on the move...

SF gets:
SP Josh Beckett (FLO)

FLO gets:
SP Kerry Wood (SF)
OF Magglio Ordonez (CHA)
1B Frank Thomas (CHA)
OF Jason Gerut (SF)

CHA gets:
SP AJ Burnett (FLO)
OF Juan Pierre (FLO)
SP Merkin Valdez (SF)
1B Will Cordero (FLO)

I've never seen any trades that were that big. Thats just amazing. I would be too scared to pull a deal that big.

The bigger the trade, the funner it is. I don't know precisely how many of all the trades I've ever made fulfilled the goal I had in mind while making them, but it is ungodly high, I'm sure probably close to 90%. If it takes a half dozen teams and 20 players to get the pieces you want, then it only behooves you to get creative and figure out a way to get those pieces. Knowledge is power... the more you have about your team, where you want to go with it and the league as a whole, the more successful you can build your team.

As it is right now, I have a goal of winning the World Series in four of my leagues during the current season I'm in with each. I doubt it'll happen, but at the very least I should reach the postseason with all four.

I would've lost track of those trades after like 5 players.
