You Too Could Be In This League

But why you would, I couldn't begin to guess.

The ACL is in need of an owner for the Montreal Expos franchise and another owner for the Detroit Tigers. We had some names on our waiting list, but as usual when they are contacted, they don't respond.

The league has been active for about 3 years and we are about to enter our 15th season. We began with OOTP2 and are now using OOTP6. Spring Training is in a couple of days. We sim 3 times a week, 7 days a sim. It gives you time to learn your team, plot your strategy, and give some thought to what you are doing. I am not knocking sims that move faster (as I am also the commissioner in one of those), but this is for those who want the time to see their team and the league evolve over the season.

We are a 'historical' league currently in 1917. The league began in 1903 using the best players from each team since 1940. Since that inaugural season, we get the rookies from 2 seasons each off-season. In the first off-season we took them from 1904 and 1993. The 2nd off-season we took them from 1905 and 1992. And so on. If a player already existed in the league, he did not get imported. (Although for a while he did with a name change). We also added Negro League players and players from before 1903 periodically.

We use the Ankit Career DB. In fact, we even use Ankit himself (he owns the Pirates). We modify the ratings for most players so that they are abnormally high. The effect of this is that when everyone has good ratings, you can't just look at the ratings and know who is worth having. You must study their stats and how they play. It is very strange as some players excel when you think they should, and others are consistently awful even with good ratings. It makes for a big challenge.

Our ownership group is a little older. We range in age from the late teens to the 50's. I would surmise that the average player is in their 30's. It is not cutthroat, but rather light-hearted. We play to win but we don't take winning seriously. Our purpose to have a little bit of fun, and we have been successful for quite a while.

I know there are a lot of leagues out there. If you are looking for a challenge that includes a few laughs then look us over. If you have any questions or are interested in joining drop me an email. Use the email the commish link on the site. (Click on the ACL in the 2nd line).
