Invalid Player File?

Hey guys,

I checked the FAQ, didn't see this one...

A GM in my league just downloaded the file and attempted to load it, but it says "Invalid Player File" and doesn't load.

Any idea what would cause this? It works fine for me and other GMs.

I'm not 100% sure what you would want to know about my computer or the inner workings of it to try to help me out.

Could be:

-For the wrong version of the game(possibly for v5 and trying to load into v6).
-Improperly installed
-Actually a corrupted player file

Well,the player file works for everyone else, so I doubt it's corrupt. I just downloaded OOTP5 from the site (I uninstalled it when I got OOTP6) and the code was already in it, so I just loaded the league, and it didn't work. I then just followed the installation instructions given.

the player file can't be corrupted, otherwise others couldn't load it... correct?

and he's using OOTP5 to open it, and its an OOTP5 file...

he just downloaded OOTP5 from the site today, does he need a patch to go with it?

No, someone in the league should just walk him through installing it properly. If it works for all others then it isn't installed correctly.

HUmmm... nothing comes immediately to mind, but here's the situation....

If the file is for OOTP5 and it's being installed correctly and it's not corrupted, then it would work. That leaves 3 possibilities...

1. Not using OOTP5 (you already said he was)
2. It's not an OOTP5 file (you already said it was)
3. It's not installed correctly (I'm assuming this is ok as well) or
4. It's corrupted.

It's VERY possible he has not gotten a clean download. Is he on dialup? or AOL? These scenarios are problematic. I would try downloading it again NOT using AOL for sure, and if dialup very late at night.

I have broadband Optimum Online, not AOL.
