Anybody watching Yanks/Sox tonight?

It's gonna get nasty, Sheffield called time in the middle of Pedro's windup twice, so Pedro drilled him.

I saw that. Pedro did let him go the first time.

I don't know why I'm watching though. Just a glutton for punishment I suppose.

I am watching it. And i thought it was funny that after Pedro nailed Sheffield with the ball, you could reah Gary's lips when he said.."You dont wanna do that to me, Oh you dont wanna do that to me"

good stuff, maybe we'll see a brawl again.

Tanyon Sturtze owes Jeter a percentage of every paycheck for the rest of his career for that. Unbelievable.

dola

And the blood and swelling on Jeter's face was kind of gross.

To avoid a double dola, I'll note that Boston has blown way too many opportunities (bases-loaded none out and 2nd/3rd one out in back to back innings) to expect to win this game.

EDIT: And Miguel Cairo nominates himself for Honorary Gload of the Day with a triple to lead off the bottom of the twelfth. And Giambi's parasites will come to bat.

Well, whatever Bernie thought he was swinging at wasn't there. Onward to the 13th!

I'll bet Sheffield moves to 3rd, A-Rod to SS, Giambi to 1st, and Clark to right. I can't really imagine any other way of doing it.

EDIT: Sheffield from right to 3rd, A-Rod from 3rd to SS. Giambi is out of the game. Bernie Williams goes into center, losing the DH for the Yankees. Crosby from center to right.

Holy Jesus Herbert Walker Christ!

Down 4-3 on a Manny Ramirez homer, with two outs, nobody on, and Sierra singles and Cairo doubles to tie it.

I am literally shaking.

Yanks win!

Single (Edit: scored a ground-rule double) by John Freaking Flaherty drives in Cairo to win it for the Yankees, 5-4 in 13 innings. Winning pitcher Tanyon Sturtze (!), losing pitcher Kurtis Leskanic (!).

I need medication at this point.

Agreed. And it beats the living hell out of most of the playoff games I've ever seen.

Everybody needs to see this game. Absolutely amazing.

EDIT: Replayed later tonight and tomorrow morning at 9AM on YES.

Those last two games pretty much summed up the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry, didn't it? Great, close games, with the Red Sox watching victory slip right through their fingers each time. Amazing.

Dola

Do you think it'll be an "Instant Classic" for ESPN?

Seriously, just put it on ESPN Classic right now and run it for 24 hours. I'm not going to complain.

And how amazing is it that those three guys won the game in the 13th? Ruben Sierra, Miguel Cairo, and John Flaherty. Not exactly a Murderers Row. All coming off the bench -- Flaherty was the Yanks' last bench player. And they won it for Tanyon Sturtze, of all people.

I didnt get the video, but I have mlb.com radio so I listened to the end of it. Absolutely amazing. Flaherty, the last position player the Yankees have available comes through so they don't have to use their last non starter, Prinz. Man oh man. What a game.

Cairo for President! The one FA signing we really didn't hear much about this off-season came through BIG time tonight. He's had a higher degree of clutchness then Glanville!!!

I didn't get home from work until after 10:00...so I figured I'd turn on the tube to check the scores...figuring the game was over. I started watching the game in the 11th...maybe the best 3 or 4 innings of baseball I've ever watched. Excitement all the way.

ESPN has a great image of Jeter In Flight:

Lacerated chin, bruised cheek, bruised shoulder, and he's going for x-rays.
