CatoBase Error 3021 and 55
First, I have recently sent a ticket into Jeff, but he must be swamped, so I thought I'd seek out the advice of others on this board, and maybe be able to cancel the ticket, saving Jeff some time.
Okay, here's the deal. Updated CatoBase from 5.4.0 directly to 6.1.1. Running OOTP 6.03. VERY FIRST SEASON of my new manager career using halofan's roster set for OOTP6 - not the update, the first set. I begin CatoBase operations before advancing to next season. I'm pretty freaking sure I have all the output and input paths set correctly, and I do have CJ's exporter checked. On importing stats, things run okay, but at one point, I do get a dialogue window stating "Type Mismatch" - not entirely sure exactly where this happens, or what exactly it means though. I hit "Okay" and the importing continues. On finishing the import, I click create HTML. First issue is not unexpected one - need to copy league.html to the data folder to get playoff info. I do so and continue on my merry little way. Now, after processing the players A-Z, all hell breaks loose. On advancing from player processing to team processing, and starting with the Angels, I get Error 3021. "Either BOF or EOF is true, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record." I click okay, and then for each section of the Angels (Fileding, Batting, Pitching etc.) I get Error 55: File Already Open. (Even though CatoBase is my only open program). For every subsequent team, I first get the Error 3021 upon "advancing" to that team, and then Error 55 for each field within that team. I do get another alert earlier in the process stating that "Null is not a valid paramater" or something to that effect. I did notice that if I go to the csv files, the value in square A1 is always followed by "(0)" - is this what that means? Should I remove the (0) in all the A1 squares of the csv files? Is it because I'm using Excel 97? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? |

Hmmm, the type mismatch is mostly likely the cause of the problem. At some point when importing the program is receiving data it is not expecting(aka wrong data type). I dont know what the csv files are supposed to look like so I cant help you with your observation.
I would suggest starting from scratch with a new database and try re-importing your league data. That probably doesn't help you much but thats what I have to offer

I don't know much about databases (read, nothing at all) and thought the type mismatch was probably innocent enough. But like I said, I don't know jack about that sort of stuff.
I tried starting from scratch with new databases, tried removing all traces of CatoBase and reinstalling it, but I keep getting the same problems. One side note is that I did try and remove the paranthetical "(0)" from the A1 cell in a few of the csv files, and when I saved them, it commented that they weren't saved in Excel 97 format (which is what I'm running), and asked me if I wanted to resave them in Excel 97 form. Is that the problem? Should I alter and resave all those csv files in excel 97 form? But if they weren't saved in excel 97 format to begin with, what the hell were they saved as and why can I view and edit them with excel 97??!!! |

Maybe there is a problem with your roster set or your schedule? From what you are saying it looks like the problem is coming from your league data(do you have another league to test with?).
I don't know if you can do this but, maybe try forcing catobase to read the ootp html files rather than the new method of 6.1.1

Plus, I saw CatoBase go through a stage or two it doesn't go through on my Halofan roster set manager league - "Processing Transaction Info . . . Determining teams for each game . . . " Any idea on how I can isolate the problem within the schedule or rosters from the halofan league? |

I just noticed that, because of trades, I have TWO number 10's on my team (Damian Rolls and Alex Cintron) - could that be a problem?
EDIT: Actually, on further review, I have THREE number 10's, THREE number 47's and TWO number 37's on my active squad. Last edited by RayofHope; 06-30-2004 at 08:41 PM. |

Man.
Just when I got my hopes up too. I downloaded Old Timer's Manager Utility, turned off manager mode and edited the numbers just in case. |

Bummer. Cato is great about checking in regularly much of the time, like daily or so, and if there's an easy fix he can usually help you out.

Was there ever any resolution to this? I'm using CatoBase 6.1.2 and had the same error:
Error 3021: Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record. has occured. This happens when creating Positional Charts I've created a new league from scratch & it's web pages are created fine. I have multiple leagues converted from ootp5 to 6 and only this one league is creating the error above. Any suggestions? |

Dunno if this solves your problem, but never use Excel to edit the csv or Cato won't work. Use an Editor (Notepad, Editpad...).
