Baffling season 2 crash
I'm using OOTP6, version 6.03
I'm playing single-player, career mode, using CBL's new rosters and Ankit's stadiums. I can get through the first season (both playing and simming) without any problems. I also get through the offseason without crashing (free agents, rule V draft, etc.) However, when I start to play season 2, the game loads, the first batter steps in and, right after the first batter's plate appearance is done, the game crashes with the following message: "OOTP6 has caused an error in <unknown>. OOTP6 will now close." Strangely, I am able to sim during season 2 without any problems. It only happens when I try to play games live. I've tried the following: -completely deleting and reinstalling the game -reverting back to version 6.02 Nothing has worked. I never had this problem with version 5. Here are my system specs: Win ME AMD Athlon processor, 1002 MHz 256 MB RAM 9 GB free harddrive space IE version 6 (if that matters) any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Just out of curiosity, have you tried simming a game or two into the second season before trying to play a game out?
If it is still doing it, and since you've already tried re-installing the game, I'd try starting a league with JUST the roster set and a league with JUST the stadiums, and see if you can narrow the problem down to one of those things. Sorry I can't be more of a help; I've never seen this issue.

Yeah, MP. I've tried all of the things you suggested (including simming a game or two in season 2, then trying to play). None of it worked.
I've also tried this with the ANKIT historical database (with no photo files, no logos, no outside stadiums). Same problem. |

This guy seems to be having a similar problem. Although there are a few differences between his problem and yours, you are both using the Ankit set, so maybe that is where the problem lies.

Is "sound enabled"? If so turn it off and try again.

Steve -
That looks like it solved it (the in-game sound was already disabled, but the interface sound was not). You are my hero! Thanks to you too, MP! JG |
