Starting a pitcher with 0 for Hits
Is it wise to put a 5 star pitching minor with a zero for runs in the rotation if the remainder of his ratings say he is capable? His talent ratings G/A/A/B/B.
The pitcher I'm contemplating has 0/1/4/1/7/7/6 for numbers and I know he needs to wait until the 1's go up a bit. But I'm curious as to what the prevailing theory is on starting pitchers with a zero for runs. |

You definately can't bring him up yet. You should have at least a 3, and preferably a 5, in avoid runs before bringing someone into the rotation.
As for the hits, they also need to go up to at least a 4-5 before he is ML ready. |

If you bring him up now, he has a chance of taking major talent hits.

This is OOTP5? I never had a problem with a guy who had a 1 in avoid hits in the majors. Just make sure his avoid HR/avoid walks are high.

I wouldn't bring him up. He's not going to be terribly effective with such a low rating, and, like others mentioned, it could hurt his development. If you let him develop, with those talents, he could become your ace. Call him up too early, and you may be stuck with a spot starter at best.

He could be using OOTP6, with the old OOTP5 engine.
I've seen a few pitchers with low run ratings, but very high hits, HR and BB ratings do fine. The theory there is if he doesn't give up any baserunners and HR's, he won't give up many runs anyway.

I believe if this is the Tas from HTFC that he is using OOTP5 still.
Since he is in the NL and away from me...It doesnt matter to me. Take some time and run a couple sims with trying that out. Art |
