Development modifiers, what should they be set at....
I've read that the default settings dont have enough guys under 25 or so. So I was wondering what development modifiers should be used. Currently I have it at +100 to both, but since I havn't really tested them I was hopoing you could help.

I found that the player development modifier doesn't affect the game very much.
I ran test leagues...20 years each...using default settings...+20, +50 and +200. It was not a scientific test, just a test leagues by a novice. Let the reader beware. None of this resulted in any productive position players and productive pitchers ages 20-25...although I did see a slight increase in the 24-25 at the maximum setting...but none productive, just taking up a space on the roster. You can see the test results and conclusions here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...threadid=66226 |

Shouldn't you set the development modifier to -100 instead of +50 or +200 if you want players to develop (and hopefully move up to the majors) as young as possible?
I thought minus figures made development and aging happen faster while plus figures made them happen slower. |

As I have read in previous threads posted soon after the game release, to speed up development you use "plus" settings...to slow it down, you use "minus" settings. I did a study on the Aging Modifier and that's how it worked..."minus" settings to slow aging down...and "plus" settings to speed it up. I found that "-5%" increased the retirement age to 43-45 years of age...while the default settings made the retirement age 41-43 years old. Those were the only two settings I used. |

The higher the number, the faster they should develop. High modifier = fast development Low modifier = slow development That's what would make sense. Of course, I don't know what it actually is, so I'm not trying to imply that you're wrong. You might be 100% correct. |

OK, I searched for the thread I remembered from late April-early May where Henry said minus shortens and plus extends, which seemed clear enough for me so I didn't check it again.
However, I now checked how that thread progressed as Eugene and others did tests, and Henry edited his original comments. You are right about the plus and minus. Sorry. |
