draft compensation

not sure if this has been mentioned but would it be possible at some point down the line to have draft compensation worked into the game similar to how it works in the MLB draft?

thanks

I agree completely. Draft compensation is a great idea.

If the value of compensation can be scaled for different sized drafts than exists in MLB, I'd be all for it (e.g. - in a 10-round draft, a first round pick is much more valuable than in a 50-round draft).

This is a great point... If the star system were more consistent, then that would be a great way to figure the compensation for the player.

I would like another farm system at each level (a high and a low) and a Rookie Ball league, so I can set my draft to 50 rounds and have it more like the real MLB, with some superstars pulling a Piazza and coming out of nowhere.

Amen to that, Dimaggio - at least three A-ball teams (rookie, high, low). Some teams have more than one upper level minor league team per level, but some don't. However, EVERYONE has more than one A-ball team.

This is getting complicated and I figure well down the line, but I at least like the ideas. A key for this IMO would be not all draft picks signing with the drafting team. Does anybody have figures for what percentage that typically is?

I'm not sure what percentage don't sign, but it's very low for the higher rounds.

Have players who are picked in the later rounds decide they'd rather stay in school for another year, than sign with the team that drafted them.

I think a way to edit the whole draft order would be a good idea too. That way people can use any kind of compensation rules or draft pick trade rules and just edit the draft order by themselves.

That might be the easiest way for Markus to handle it, Skipaway. For convenience' sake, however, I hope to someday have an option that first has an on/off switch, and then fill in the blank for the kinds of compensation for different types players.

Still, if that's not likely/possible, then what you described would be a wonderful improvement - including the "reassigning" of picks to simulate either compensation or (if you really want to, despite it not being a part of "real" baseball) trades.

Great idea
