Are you generally satisfied with OOTP6?
Let the question mean whatever you choose it to mean: is it worth your money, is it sufficiently bug-free, do the new features outweigh the problems, or whatever.
I'd just like to get a sense of what the community's reaction to V6 really is, without all the knee-jerk pro- and anti- comments.

Compared to previous versions, no. Money wise, yes. When the discounted pre-order opportunity came up, I thought I was getting a bargain. Now I feel that discounted price was just about right.

I have experienced far more crashes in OOTP6 then I have in all previous versions OOTP1-OOTP5 combined and multiplied by 1000. OOTP6 just randomly crashes at least once a week, I say random because I can immediately load up the game following a crash and it will go right past where ever it crashed in the first place with nothing changed.
There is an average of 3 top 10 draft picks getting waived a couple of weeks into the season for no reason. I have no problem with these players getting traded although it does seem to happen a wee too frequently, I have saw a number of top 10 drafted players traded multiple times right after getting drafted, one instance saw the #1 overall player traded 5 times in between April to July. I'm still seeing some brain-dead depth chart AI logic especially among the OF positions. |

I haven't had very many problems with the new version, and the new DIPS engine is a great improvement in my mind. Obviously other people are having more problems than I am, but overall, I still think it's more of a step forward than a step back, and it still remains my favorite game.

For me, I think I have got my money's worth. But that is because I didn't plan to use head-to-head, the waivers is a big deal to me, it is not a huge gaembreaker. Also, I haven't had many bugs that have hampered playing.

I would have selected a middle option if it was available but since it's yes or no, I'll pick yes. There are some annoying problems still but a lot of good stuff was added to the game.
I don't think I'll be truly satisfied until I get editable nationality distribution of players and better news stories. The core of the game is solid but some of the other stuff isn't yet. |

I love this game and I'm glad I found it and I'm happy that Markus has put as much time into this game that he has and am looking forward to future versions of this game.

No, It has been on the shelf since the day I downloaded it other than to check out how the conversion worked. I havn't even bothered to download any of the patches since it seemed most people said it made things worse.
Our online league just proceeded to next season and is not changing to OOTP6 at this point. |

More than yes. I love the new version. Although I haven't yet used the last patch because from what I've read it's a little flawed.

I really do enjoy the new version, I like the rule 5 option and the 40 man roster. I think there are still some bugs, but as usual they will be fixed intime. I except this because Markus has always corrected any issues that might comeup. People continue to say that this should not happen when we are paying 34 dollars for this game (and I accept there opinions) But when I have to shell out 50-60 dollars for my 15yr old XBOX, then I consider this game a bargain.

I'm a little surprised at the mixed reaction as well. Remember, Eck asked us if we are "generally satisfied" with the game, not if we were foaming-at-the-mouth, head-over-heels, there's-a-rocket-in-my-pocket in love with the game. I mean sheesh!
I'm inordinately satisfied with OOTP6. The fact that there have already been two patches released for this title that have addressed a lot of the initial shortcomings of the game should be enough to warrant at least a "generally satisfied" rating from most. And remember, there are more goody-laden patches on the way. Anyone here ever purchase a game in which the developers treated their customers' complaints as if they were the paranoid rantings of a gang of raving lunatics? I have, and Markus is a breath a fresh air in that regard. C'mon peeps, give this product its due props! Last edited by Dud_Selig; 06-06-2004 at 06:54 PM. |

Playing out every game in my solo league, OOTP has been a blast.
As others have stated there are bugs that obviously need fixed, however I'm still having fun seeing how my 2004 solo season unfolds. Now if I could only Pinch run for DH Matt "Zero Speed" Stairs.... |

I've had no problem with this version of OOTP other than a few things here and there but nothing major. Even with the flaws I believe it's better than anything else out there.

I've enjoyed the DIPS engine, and I like the ability to play with stats off.
Am I satisfied? Not really. I have paid x amount of money for certain features, and until those features all work as advertised I have been missold the product, and I will not be satisfied. That doesn't mean I enjoy the game, but to be into June and to be getting the response that 'time is needed to iron out bugs' is a bit silly, considering we pre-ordered in March for features that were advertised as introduced and working. |

I'm satisfied with the game. The only problem that I have personally run into was with Sim speed. The highest star prospect I've seen released was a 4.5 star one, and he was 25, and hadn't developed, so it seemed normal to me

I am in no way satisfied.
I was told when I pre-ordered it that there would be a head-to-head feature. I was then told that I did have a week to change my mind, but that HTH was coming very soon. Then that it would be in the next patch. Then that no, it wasn't in the next patch, it was in the next 'Major Update'. Well, it's been almost two months since the release; it has been two months since opening day, and there's no head to head, which is the reason I bought OOTP6 in the first place. An update on when this is coming would be appreciated. |

I have been very satisfied with the game. I converted my solo league from v4 to v5 and now this year to v6.
I know others are reporting many problems with the game. I can honestly say I haven't seen them in my solo league. Maybe it's because it started with Rolen17's ootp4 roster and not some other. Perhaps it's becuase I imported from v5 to 6 midseason and not right before or after the "proceed to next season" button. I did install each patch when they came out. I play out every game and just moved to a new season using 6.02a. I have not seen any top prospects on the waiver wire. The highest player I found claimed off waivers by another team was a 31 yr old 2.5 star veteran. Since the threads started talking about the waiver problems I have been checking my waiver wire at least every other day and have not seen any primetime players on the list. In my league Houston put a SP on waivers to take him off the 40 man. I put in a claim as he looked pretty good, 3 star with good potential. I never got him and so I checked Houston's roster and there he was still on the ML roster so at least in this case waivers werer revoked and he stayed where he was supposed to. I'm curious why are some of us not having waiver problems and some of us are? Is it the roster set? League settings? Overall talent in the leauge in question? I don't know, some have posted that this problem settles down after a year or two. So perhaps it's because I'm playing an established solo league. Maybe my league isn't old enough and the problems will come up later? All I really know is that as of now the game works fine for me and I'm having just as much if not more fun than I had with v4 or v5. |

Personally, I voted "no." To me, the test is: am I glad I converted my solo league from OOTP5 at this point? The answer right now would have to be an unqualified "no." There have been numerous problems, and while I expected the new engine to take some getting used to, (a) the random placement of AI fielders prior to this patch, (b) the lack of improvement on many issues that have been irritating ever since V4 (poor news, grammatical errors, OBP miscalculated), (c) the slowness, (d) the improper handling of waivers, and (e) the fact that pitching rotation continues not to work right all combine to make this a step back at this point.
I'm a huge believer in DIPS, but the current problems make it for me not even a tie. Of course, if it was a tie, I'd still vote "no" because I did spend $25 for this game. I'm still hopeful that many of the problems will be worked out in a patch, but if not, I'm unlikely to buy the next version of OOTP.

I was kind of in the middle with the poll until I took it as "if this were the final product, would you be satisfied?"
Then it's a no. I have confidence in the development team that the bugs will be fixed and I hope that the features that have been added for version 6 will work the way they're supposed to. But that's confidence and hope. If I heard that this was it, I think I'd be disappointed.
