Non aging players

Now, I have a long history of having issues with players not aging properly, but that's in part due to me trying to start leagues in the prehistoric era, the Roman empire or around year 1000.

Anyway, I look at my online league today and I get the following... That's a player I wanted to trade before the FA period, since he was becoming a 1-star scrub, but much to my surprise, he didn't get a year older during that time. Any explanations why that might be?

This league lived for 4 years in the OOTP5 era, and I converted it to OOTP6 after clicking the "Proceed to next season" button.
