New League Help
I am new to OOTP5 and I would like to create a league for my friends. I do not have OOTP5. How do I get a site like what a lot of people have? How do I get the game and where do I get an OOTP5 league site? If you can answer this question, please email me at cardsfan4life@hotmail.com
Thank you |

so, where can I purchase a cheap website?
And once I get it, what do I have to do to get all of the information on the page. I have limited computer knowledge, so this probably sounds stupid. Do I have to do any website building? Thanks for responding |

web
You’ll get your webspace from a webhost; your webspace cost is relative to its size; the amount of webspace you need depends on the size of your league (determined by its number of teams, and its age). If you register a unique domain (site address name) for a year, your cost for the name and the space will probably average $5-10 per month for a year.
You will need to make some kind of webpage as a central portal, to give your league owners access to league stats and a ‘league file’ which you will regularly update. Once you have your webspace, all you need to do to maintain your website is an internet connection (obviously) and a program to use to transfer your webpages from your home computer to your webhost’s computer (the ‘server’). These programs are freely available online. |

programs
Programs used to transfer files online are called ‘ftp’ programs. Many people use CuteFTP; personally I use LeechFTP.
My own webhost is Fuitadnet, their prices and service are as good as any I’ve seen. Some board members here run their own webhosting services, namely CommishJoe and Cooleyvol; if you want to deal with an OotP community member, I would ask one of them. A domain name is going to cost you between $5-10 for the year; you don’t have to have one, but I highly recommend it; it’s important for your league identity, and it will boost league morale, as well as provide an easy-to-remember address for your owners and fans. There are some basic webmastering skills that you will have to learn to maintain your league site, but they are easy to pick up, and a little practice will solidify your abilities. |

You might be confusing the domain with your actual webspace. The webspace is where all of your files are stored on to be able to view. the domain is the url that allows anyone to view your website. Two totally different things, though most hosts do offer domains, sometimes at a reduced price if you buy a piece of webspace with them. It would be best if you purchase a domain like at godaddy.com, which I suggest, or ev1servers.com, if you're really cheap and you don't mind the support (or lack of)

One other quickie, I personally use HelloHost (http://www.hellohost.com). I love their service and their support is outstanding. It's not as cheap as the one mentioned above, but you get what you pay for.
Some other options: www.allin1websolutions.com Or you can check out webhostingtalk.com. It's a forums where web hosts ask questions and advertise their product. Maybe you'll find a better deal there or find something that suit your needs.

stlfan2003, sent you a long email. Take a gander at what is in there, and see if you can get some ideas there. Tell them TC sent you.
