Best ending I've ever seen, that's for sure.

Shaq did sum it up best.

Glad I caught the end of it, my interest in basketball has pretty much completely faded from being an avid fan around 10 years ago, so havn't been paying much attention again this year. I figured since it was game 7 of the NBA finals I should at least tune in and watch the 4th quarter and was glad I did. It was funny that Shaq immediatly went to the lucky shot thing since Duncan almost put the winning bucket on him a few minutes earlier, but if I was Fisher I would be pissed. You spend all those hours in the gym honing your skills and shot and it pays off with a huge winning bucket, and even your own teammate calls it lucky. Maybe whenever Shaq actually makes a free throw, Fisher should call it a lucky basket. Fisher/Duncan vs. Shaq in a handicap match on PPV!!!11

Congrats to the Lakers on another championship!

D'oh, I thought this was about that Alex Cora at bat from last night. Way better than that basketball game tonight!

Not a great game, but maybe the best finish in playoff history. 3 potential game winners in 11 seconds? The last 2 were totally impossible shots.

It's a shame the Spurs are protesting, I thought the clock started on time and by this time tonight I've seen 50 replays easy.

Couple things. 1) It wasn't game Seven of the Finals it was game 5 of the Conference Semi-Finals. b) You would thing the home timekeeper would be quick on the trigger.

I didn't know this before last night, but during the playoffs the home timekeeper is appointed by the league. I don't think this has always been the case.

It is physically impossible to take the shot Fisher took in under a second, much less .4 of a second.

all he did was catch and toss. as one of the commentators said, .3 seconds is only enough to tip it but .4 seconds is enough to catch and shoot.

And that commentator is full of BS. The moment the ball touches his fingers the buzzer should be sounding with only .4 seconds left. Do you even realize how short of a time that is?

agreed.
BS.
you can't catch and shoot the way fisher did in .4 seconds. the commentator meant that there is a league rule that a catch and shoot can't score with .3 left. it would have to be a tip.

i don't think it was the best ending ever because it was so drawn out. it was amazing, but i didn't wasn't really invested into it. 3 timeouts will do that.

Personally, I think the timeouts/chessmatch added to the drama.

Actually, the referee on the court starts the clock after dead ball situations (regular season and playoffs). Been that way for a few years now.

Forgot about the ref, sorry.

I don't know why you guys are saying .4 tenths isn't enough time for a catch and shoot. This is the Trent Tucker rule. After that .1 debacle about 20 tears ago, the league did a lot of study on this. .4 is enough time, that ball barely touched Fish's hands before it was gone.

Hmm, I had heard that the winner of game 5 in a 2-2 series went on to win the series over 80% of the time and that noone was capable of beating the Lakers or San Antonio. I figured then there was a good chance that last nights game was actually game 7 of the finals.
