markus, how about a weighting option of depth charts/lineups

How about a choice of AI preference, like you have for trades, for depth charts/lineups?

Something like:

1. Traditional lineup

2. Favor OBP

3. Favor SLG

Or even make them Era-related. That way everyone can select what kind of DC/lineup they want, and the historical gamer could get a better lineup out of the AI for past seasons.

Heartily endorsed! At some point the game will need to offer managerial profiles ( as well as GM profiles ) that reflect differing styles, competency, and "personality" if the solo experience is to be maximized. This suggestion is a baby step in the right direction.

To me, this would be a 'traditional lineup'

1. Some speed and a good OBP.
2. Not necessarily a great hitter, but someone who does not strike out a lot and puts his bat on the ball, some speed is also a plus
3. Your best overall hitter.
4. Best RBI/Power guy
5. RBI/Power guy
6. Some power nice, but not one of your better hitters
7. 2nd worst hitter
8. usually the worst hitter in the line-up

^^ looks trad to me.

I think this is the classic description of a traditional batting order.

Increased managerial personea -- this would be a great addition.

what lineup order does ootp cpu team do now?

1. Traditional lineup

I dunno but my traditional lineup always looked like this...

1. Speed, OBP (basically, gets on base and can steal them)

2. contact hitter, doesn't K, walks alot

3. best overall hitter (power/average)

4. best power guy

5. power/rbi

6. some power (the only spot i look at as ambiguous)

7. speed

8. (w/out DH) contact guy, doesn't K (to avoid leading off w/ pitcher)

8. (w/ DH) 2nd cleanup, power

9. (w/ DH) 2nd leadoff
