Bug: Importing OOTP5 to Version 6

Please excuse me if this has already been brought to your attention:

After I imported my players from OOTP5 to version 6, I was alarmed to notice that the program created 100's of duplicate players for each position listed in the FREE AGENT pool.

For example: Under the catchers tab there were listed duplicate players from other positions. The same was true for all the other tabs, 1b, 2b, 3b, Ss, LF, etc.

As far as I can tell the same "out of position" player was still listed in his rightful position. So, I can simply delete the duplicates and still have my database. But this is clearly an error with the import function.

This error does not stem from my OOTP5 player database as I've checked and only catchers are listed under catchers, 1b under 1b, and so forth.

Now, I'm wondering what other ratings might be affected by the import from OOTP5? This is not very reassuring.

I hope this error has been mentioned before and I'm hoping it has a chance of being addressed in the next patch.

Thanks for listening.

Bigger Problem

Well, I tried to delete duplicates but it resulted in deleting the original player from the database all together. So, the bottom line is that duplicate players are showing up all over the place even though there is only one record of them someplace in the daabase. In short, the whole database is a scrambled mess.

There is no sense in importing OOTP5 players into version 6.

Sorry to report the discouraging news!

Problem May Be Solved

Well, after toying around with the converted ver 5 file in Ver 6 I noticed that the players most likely are now listed by every position they play. This differs from ver 5 where they were listed only by their primary position.

I was not used to viewing free agents in this manner and so assume this is a new feature of version 6. In some ways, this is an improvement as now one can see for each position category ALL players "primary" and "secondary" positions. This will help one to know if a particular player is also listed at another positon within the Free Agent Pool.

It would be nice to have a button to "toggle" this feature on and off.

In the meantime, I apologize for over-reacting and assuming there was a bug in this part of the program.
