Pitchers as PH?
Here was the situation I had:
My pitcher was up very late in a close game with a runner on first and nobody out. I wanted to attempt a sac bunt, but the pitcher who was up had a "2" Sac bunt rating, and everyone on my bench had either a "1" or "2". I have a starting pitcher who has a "5" sac bunt rating, and I tried to send him up to PH and bunt the guy over to second, but he didn't come to the plate. My original pitcher stayed in and failed to get him over. When the top of the 9th started, the pitcher with the "5" rating was pitching, and it made him pitch to one batter, even though I hadn't wanted to use him as a pitcher. Obviously, this is about as minor a problem as there is, and the situation might come up twice a season, if that, but I just wanted to point it out, as it is an option that some managers use (PHing with Mike Hampton or PR with a pitcher.) |
