Importing players from database?

First, I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong forum.

I've read the FAQ on how to import players from the lahman database, but I've got a problem. I don't have Access, so I can't open the csv files to find out what the "player ID's" are.

Is there a shareware/freeware program that will do this? Is there another way to read csv files? Sorry, I'm database illiterate....

No need for a database program. Just open the csv files with Excel or another spreadsheet, or even with a text editor like Wordpad.
