Idea I'm toying with:

Ok, so some discussion is going on about player modifiers, and using them to create a larger gap between stars and average players.

One thing I've been thinking of (which will work only if the modifier is applied to the player's rating, not simply to the cap) is simply raising league homerun created player modifier by 10%, and then also raising the homerun total in the ERA settings by 10% (for less homeruns).

If I'm correct, this should create similar home run highs, while creating greater distance statistics wise between players home run numbers... Because the players who are generated with higher ratings initially wil benefit more from the +10%. IE a player generated with a 100 in power will become 110, and a player with a 50 will become a 55 (+10 vs. +5). Of course, if the 10% is raised, these numbers can be skewed even more.

Any thoughts?

I believe if what you wish to do is create talent pool disparity, it will be important for you to use a method that will lead to that. You've probably seen in the one thread how I am testing a method that will vary the draft pool from year to year, with a small chance that there will be a draft of players more likely to be well above average.

Your concept seems valid - I would be very interested in hearing your results.

I would caution you however, that this will only work for a period of time. As each year goes by, the new players will be created using the higher modifiers - and as the older players begin to lose their abilities, the league will swing to more homeruns overall.

I don't know what you mean henry...

Since all players would have a +10%, wouldn't the homerun numbers stay fairly static?
