Learning position bug

I had a minor league 2b learning 3b all season, and in August got an email saying that he had succeeded and his skills were now 246!

On his player card it reads range of 100. Even that seems out of line, since he was a 31 year old scrub with a 2b range of 12. (His fielding average was also higher at 3b, .990 compared to 2b .980)

A rating of 100 is the max for the 1-100 scale even though it may be higher. As for the fielding percentage, I've seen it many times in OOTP5. 3B's tend to have around .940-965 for fielding percentages.

No, I guess I wasn't clear.

A very poor fielding 2b learned 3b and came out superhuman -- which I don't think was Marcus's intention.

I had one of my 5 star minor league second basemen learn the Pitcher position all of a sudden. He had never pitched in any games either, he just suddenly learned his new position. His skill at it is only 15 and his stuff, control, and other stats are also very low, so was extremely odd.

Is this using "real" players or fictional?

In the same vein (using fictional players btw):

I got an email: "Garvin has made notable progress learning his new position, Leftfield. ...I would rate his skills as "40" right now."

1) What does "40" mean? I use rating scale of 1-5 for fielding range. His new range at LF is 3. His fielding percentage rating is .989. "40" is really meaningless or inconsistent in this context.

super minor... 2) Leftfield should not be capitalized (?)

I've had the same problem in a fictional leauge.

Email states player X has made notable progress at learning his new position. I would rate his skill as 248 (or something close).

On review of the player, he is a minor league hack fielder who now has a 100 range factor at the new postion.

Minor leagues are under computer control BTW.

Playing 1-100 rating fictional league. 37 yr old player declining fast in AAA ball. Recieved e-mail that player has learned position and is now rated 248. I checked the player he was rated 100 at new position.

Minor problem- game is great.

In reply to Steve, it happened shortly after I transfered my existing league over to OOTP6 from 5. Not sure what roster set I'm using anymore, it's been so long, but one of the "real" roster sets someone made.
