Skin changes heads up

In case you were planning on moving a custom skin from OOTP 5 to OOTP 6, there are changes that will impact the skin. I moved the old time skin I had created and modified for OOTP 5 to OOTP 6 yesterday. Couldnt figure out why menu buttons would be there, then disappear. Turns out that probably 3 times the menu button graphics have been added to the OOTP 6 skins. When you first change from a OOTP 6 skin to a custom OOTP 5 skin the buttons will remain, but when you restart the game they are gone.

The fix is simple, just copy all the button graphics from the OOTP 6 skins to your custom skin folder. If they dont fit the look of the skin you can always modify them.

After some more work on a skin I have found some more changes. Basically the new OOTP skin set up has more graphic pieces. You can compare the new skin with your custom skin to find all the new files, probably the simplest way is to rename one of the skins that came with OOTP 6, and then copy all the files from your custom skin in the new skin folder. And copy your default and logosmall into the graphics folder. There will still be graphic files, like the buttons that will then have to be modifed to fit your custom skin, it might be easier to just a set of buttons form one of the OOTP 6 skins. But you will then have all the rest of the OOTP skin elements and it will work fine.

Found another new graphic file in the new OOTP 6 skins folders, the file is "menu_field_gamescreen". This will not be found in OOTP 5 custom skins and as you might have guessed by the name it is a major part of the screen when playing a game. Again the an easy way around this is to simple this file from one of the OOTP 6 skins that came with the game. You may have to modify it to fit your skin, I was lucky that the file from the dark blue skin fits my skin ok.

Found another one, goes along with the above. The "menu_bottom_gamescreen" is also a new graphic found in the OOTP 6 skins. This needs to be copied to your OOTP 5 custom skin.

Good looking out nmleague... i was gonna' try to use some of the old skins, but i thought i'd check the boards first. Glad i did.
