Saberosters Update 4/12/04

With OOTP6 coming out soon I wanted to let everyone know where this roster project stands. Mats and I decided to forgoe making the set version 5 compatible and have turned our attention to making this a highly accurate roster set for OOTP6. Since neither of us is a beta tester (hint hint ) we need to wait for version 6 to be released so that we know exactly what we're dealing with. Once the game is released we'll take some time to familiarize ourselves with the new features and ratings systems. We'll also try and include information that is especially pertinent in OOTP6.

As of now its difficult to say when I see this project coming to fruition. I do guarantee that unlike so many other of DRaven's greatest hits, this task will be completed, if for no other reason than I want a good roster set to play with in my solo leagues.

We are still looking for scouting reports on pitchers from all teams except the Cubs (BIG props to my man jgross68!). I am specifically looking for pitch types and velocity for major leaguers and top prospects. If you have or feel like putting together any of this information feel free to PM or email me with it. Any help of this sort would be greatly appreciated.

We'll try and keep you guys updated with our progress.

This is the roster set that'll know players, not just ratings, right?

when you say youre looking for scouting reports on pitchers... what exactly are you looking for in a scouting report?

While it's disappointing to hear that this set won't be released for OOTP 5, I do want to say good luck in getting in everything ready for 6. This set has the potential to be good, let's just hope it releases sooner than the combined roster set from GDork and Rolen.

But seriously, would you describe the roster's release as imminent?

somehow, I blame the delay on Eckstein.

I'd like to say that I pre-ordered your roster set, and I'm pretty pissed off that you have all these delays and can't even give us a release date. obviously, you are a company who doesn't care about your customers.

I will now go to your website and hit the refresh button until it comes out. thanks.

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

From what I read there is very little actually done except gathering research correct ? (not being rude, just asking) so it is likely to be a month into the season (start of may) for the rosters too come out at the earliest?

If you can post an example of what you are looking for in scouting reports, I may be able to give you a hand...

How about giving me a little Greg Maddux?

Surely there is a beta tester working on the rosters as we speak so they will be ready by the time the game is released.

Right?

How about giving me a little Greg Maddux?
Basically: what pitches does he throw, and what's his typical velocity?

For instance, Maddux: Throws a fastball, changeup, curveball. Velocity rating of 4, using the following conversion chart:

Code:
	Velocity
Range	Average	Rating
96-101	98.4	10
93-97	96.1	9
92-97	94.3	8
90-95	92.1	7
86-92	90.5	6
86-91	89	5
83-90	87.7	4
85-89	86.8	3
84-89	86.5	2
83-88	85.9	1
82-86	84.6	0
Preferably give fastball velocity range/average and a velocity rating, if only because we don't know whether OOTP6 will keep the same velocity rating system/scale.

Wrong. There's quite a bit of work done, but there's still quite a bit of work to do. As I said before, we don't have a specific time frame in mind yet. Mats and I want to make sure that our set takes advantage of the all of the new features that will be available to us in V6 and making sure our set does that will take some time.

Well as long as Derek Jeter has "A" Range and a good Clutch Rating I can wait.

Not much else to do in Grove City than create roster sets.
