Attn: KidRock of the "TCBL". Please Have Some Respect!
As much as I *would be* flattered that you'd decided to use the same acronym for your league as that of my former High Heat residency, so carefully founded and very well-run by my friend concusion. And that you've decided to use the TCBL logo THAT I DESIGNED.
It would've been real cool, had you just shot an e-mail someone's way and asked. See below for reference, for those of you who are unclear about what kidrock has done (or not done as it may be). My old league (founded and run by Concusion): http://www.enuttage.com/tcbl/ kidrock's "new" league: http://tcbl.game-server.cc/tcbl/html/ What'd be really cool is if you could've used our ideas as springboards for YOUR OWN. But what you did was not cool man. Not the end of the world, but not cool to just lift both the name and logo from a very distinguished and long-running HH league. Think original, and don't be lazy. I'd like to hear your take on this, BTW. -E p.s. Normally I don't just blast people openly on the forum, but I felt strongly about this.

Exactly my point!
Hell, if he'd have asked about the logo, and liked the feet on it, I would've supplied him with a raw file of his own to do whatever he wanted with. I love helpin' folks out! Too bad he didn't put in the effort on this one. -E

enuttage,
First you should check your FACTS before making assumtions in public and making yourself look like an idiot. First I have never played or even had HighHeat installed on my computer and hence havent a clue about any HH leagues or their names. Second to BigBonehead their the name TCBL was created by me in 1995 and a BBPRO league called TripleCrown Baseball League which I ran for many seasons was the first TCBL. When my freind (webmaster) comes online I supply you with a link of an old geocities site that has a temp site TCBL use to use to prove this fact. Third I did not STEAL any logo, the logo I am using was given to me by a friend who was asked to come up with something for me...I persoanly SUCK EGGS in making grafics. As I can see here it is the same LOGO and if you do not want me to use it I have NO PROBLEM taking it down and creating another league grafic. If you are indeed the one who made it I say it is preaty cool but I dought MLB comes crying to you like some 9 year old girl your little leqague their has STOLEN their MLB TEAM logo's that are on your site as well...whats the matter you cant MAKE YOUR OWN?? in your own words what the matter are you guys to LAZY to make your own you have to steal logo's??

Hey, I see you are using my fictional league photo pack!
By the way, I can see someone getting upset about one league using the logo designed by another league but I hope no one is arguing over the use of "Triple Play" being used as the name of a a baseball league

Methinks a sticky should be in order from Karen, Steve, Henry or Andreas or something about the neccessity of asking permission to use other people's web-code.
Most shockingly of all, a second sticky should be required that all leagues use LL's fictional face pack and DD's non-fictional face-pack in some way. Thanks. |

First of all, my sincere apologies to you KidRock for assuming that the league *name* was taken from ours.
Secondly, it IS my logo. I designed it, with the help of my wife, about 18 months (maybe two years) ago. My only request is that you have a serious talk with whoever your friend is and let them know that they shouldn't be passing off my work as their own. Thirdly, my work was taken without credit or permission, which is all I ever would've asked for. That fact stands. Lastly, if the logo was presented to you as someone else's, then yes, I would appreciate it if you would either a) Credit me and/or my wife for the graphics. or b) Remove the banner from your site given the circumstances surrounding the usage. Thanks, -E

I think my beef was more in the fact that originally I thought the league name was based around the, um, misrepresented logo. As I mentioned to KidRock, I was a bit haste in my assumption that he had lifted the name as well. -E

No problem here.... I did not ask where he got it when he gave it to me but I am sure when I do ask him he will tell me. As for credit now dont take this wrong or what I am about to say to everyone.... The logo is great and I like it a lot and have no problem telling people where it came from but if your asking for your name to be posted on the site that I rather take it down... no biggie either way to me.
Now some thoughts on this whole USING/STEALING web sites and grafics stuff I have read on this board many times people getting trashed for this I must say COME ON PEOPLE, GET A LIFE Realy who realy cares what some gomers league site looks like other than some group of self involved geeks playing some fantasy baseball league....I consider myself in this group "GEEKS" because realy if you asked 100 ramdom people you meet in REAL LIFE what they thought about a person that spent his time playing imaganary baseball on the computer I think the word GEEK might come up....LOL Now grafics ... I loaded at ramdom 25 OOTP leagues and looked them over and you know what 90% of them have used many STOLEN grafics..probibly a lot comming from MLB.COM or other OFFICAL baseball sites. So for the most part guys I seen cry and bitch about someone STEALING something should get out of that glass house before throwing stones around the board. Websites...ok someone mentioned his site was copywrited...I dought very seriously he submited the proper paper work to the proper gonverment agency's to copywrite a FANTASY BASEBALL WEB SITE.....I am preaty sure any attourny you went to and said you wanted to create an action against another person because he "STOLE" your site would probibly laugh you out of his office. Realy get over yourselfs...sorry if I pissed someone off but WOW I constantly tell commishes I come across if they have a nice site and they done great work because many times commish is a unrewarding job and they like to hear those things but you guys are taking this way to far.... Its a hobby ... so lets say my hobby is stamp collecting and a guy next dor also has the same hobby ... I notice he has a nice preaty folder to hold his stamps ... so I run home and make the same folder.. color it the same .. is he gona be pounding on my door saying I stole his idea and I broke some copyright law??? Remember Imatation is the greatest form of flattery. |

I thought so .... please stop this you coppied my stuff crap or I have to show what hipocrates you are. |

And my suggestion is that the next time he "designs" something for you, you may want to ask a few more questions. Thanks, -E

Uhhh I have a letter from MLB citing their permission to use their logos (ok not really, but wouldn't it be funny if I did) the fact is, from what little IP law I know, as long as the company who's copyrights you're infringing doesn't call you on it, you're fine. But once they call you on it, you better stop or face the piper. Kid Rock, face the piper. Take it down. Do it to save face cause from where I sit, an immature commish will NEVER get me to join their league (nor many others here) and you might have a hard time filling in the next position if you don't apologize and move on. |
